| - Finally Darrens Official BBS is now OPEN!!!! And even better it has 2 welcome mini movies and Darren has posted a message through Carla! [official bbs] - In Issue 77 of TOTP (July 2001) Darren confesses an embarassing moment of his! "When I saw the opening ceremony of the Sydney Olympics I started welling up with pride, and all the band and crew were there. I didn't really think I was patriotic in that kind of way and I freaked myself out that I felt so proud that I cried!" - Anna-Maris LaSpina has another update on her site with some pictures and whats more she mentions our beloved DANIEL!!! Don't miss it! (UK) - The song of the year title at the this years ASCAP awards went to SAVAGE GARDEN with I Knew I Loved You! - Update on HALOGEN name change - As most of you will (or should) know that HALOGEN we having to change their name as too many people were using that name across the world. The NEW name is ANEIKI! Here is what Jen had to say about it on their message board [www.aneiki.com] "I thought I'd better get on and explain a bit about our new name - Aneiki. We had a lot of trouble in securing a name that we could use. We all loved Halogen but there was way too many people using that name, both within Australia and internationally. The idea with ANEIKI was to create something that we could give meaning to and create an image for (like a brand name). It actually turns out that it's pretty close to the Japanese word "Aneki" which is slang for big sister. With the extra "i" it doesn't really mean anything although broken in to two parts it can have the meaning... "ane" is big sister and "iki" is life force energy. So maybe it's like Japanese girl power..haha! (Grant hates it when I say that!)Really, we just wanted something that was OURS!! By the way we pronounce it "AH-nee-kee". Bye,jen " - ANEIKI's debut single 'Pleased To Meet You will be aired on Australian radio June 4th and for sale on June 18th.....If you can make sure you get a copy! - In the latest issue of Top Of The Pops magazine (UK), May 2001, Issue 75 with Eminem on the cover, there's an interview with Darren about bullying. - Elisa Fiorillo (back-up singer) has released a new album called Undecided buy it here! - There is a 2 page Darren Interview in the March 27th issue of Star Magazine (UK) - Unfortunately Savage Garden didn't win Best International Group at the BRITS but the award went to U2, which is cool cause they deserved it too - I would have been mad if Westlife had won! - Superstars and Cannonballs is to be released in the UK on March 12th - The Best Thing release date has been moved back to March 19th (UK) - Savage Garden have been nominated for a Brit Award. They are up against acts like Westlife, U2, Santana and The Corrs for "Best International Group" - Ten Australian artists have been honoured by stamps which are to be released on March 20 in Australia.
