Slowly but surely, the ugly head of the liberal media once again rears forth.
In the past few weeks, anxious to find an angle that has not yet been addressed, we are slowly seeing a return to criticism.

In the days immediately following Sept 11, we saw a nation united.  EVERYONE was of a single focus that this nation must progress, must not falter, and above all else, must act as a single voice.   For a time, even the liberal media hesitated in being critical of anything remotely related to disagreeing with the will of the people.  As is our American right, there was dissention, but never did we hear of the angry, divisive or hurtful words that the media used to use.  Now, here we are 2 months after and every day, there’s a new story from some reporter, commentator or columnist telling us how bad the government is, how bad a job the President is doing, or why we should negotiate with the murdering pigs that currently control Afghanistan.

Today, I read with an equal mix of interest and disgust, a
column in the San Francisco Chronicle by Harley Sorensen.  In it, Mr Sorenson makes an absurd attempt to portray the Bush Administration’s attempts to hunt down terrorist as unconstitutional, illegal and immoral.  The rather amazing thing, is that he attempts to do this by completely documenting the –OPINION- of one Rep. Patsy T. Mink of Hawaii, a liberal with a long history.  Among the issues she voted for was H.R. 2264 Parental Notification Amendment, an amendment proposed by Rep. Michael Castle, R-DE, that requires providers of family planning services to encourage parental involvement. The Castle Amendment was a substitute for a measure proposed by Rep. Ernest Istook, R-OK, that would have required parental notification.   Rather than voting for Rep. Istook’s Amendment that would have –required- parental notification, Mink voted for an amendment that simply –encouraged- it.  Of course, the ACLU supported this amendment also.  Then, there was the H J.R. 202 Flag Desecration Amendment, which prohibits desecrating our country’s flag.  Along with the ACLU, our dear Ms. Mink was against this concept as well.  Finally, we find Ms Mink in support of the commonly referred to as "Partial-Birth Abortion", in which an almost full-term, viable baby can be partially removed from the womb, and murdered.  Because it is not fully removed, it remains classified as a fetus, and thus is still technically an abortion rather than a murder. So, it’s not surprising to see Mr. Sorenson using the opinions of the liberal Ms Mink as proof that the Bush Administration is overstepping the rights of citizens in it’s quest to bring terrorists to justice.  Of course, that comes from the same line of thinking as those that wanted to “negotiate” with the 19 terrorists who negotiated with several thousand American citizens before they reduced them to dust on Sept 11th.
