THE LEMON PIPERS

-

This is a site dedicated to The LEMON PIPERS, known mostly for their psychedelic era pop hit "Green Tambourine." Today, the Pipers are commonly looked upon as a bubblegum outfit. Perhaps this is because they were signed by producers Jerry Kasenetz and Jeff Katz - the duo who played a major role in what came to be regarded as bubblegum music. However, when it comes to describing the LEMON PIPERS music, referring to them as "bubblegum" is not often accurate. While it was true that a few recordings were either full-fledged bubblegum or had some bubblegum influence, the group was actually closer to psychedelic pop in their lighter phase. THE LEMON PIPERS did not have complete artistic control, but they were (at times) a self-contained band, occasionally covering material of their own choice, or writing their own material. On the whole, the band's original material was experimental and entertaining. Enjoy the page and sections.
