Hook, Line And Sinker

If there’s one noun that could describe John McCook aptly, It’s “charmer”. So it’s no big surprise that on the day he met future wife Laurette Spang, he threw her a line that she just couldn’t resist. “We were at a party and we were talking about our situations – who we were, etc.,” he says. “We both knew we were going to see each other again in a month or so at another party, so when it was time to leave, I just said to her, ‘Don’t run off and get married or anything.’” Having no pressing engagements to speak of, Spang graciously obliged McCook’s request – until he popped the question himself, that is. The couple celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary in February. “Twenty years,” he marvels. “That’s a big deal!”
