When John McCook (Eric) met his wife, Laurette Spang, at a party over two decades ago, he didn’t know he for certain that he wanted to marry her. He just know he didn’t want her to get hitched to anyone else! “We knew we were going to see each other again in a month at another party, so I said to her, ‘Don’t run off and get married or anything,” he recalls. After the two had been dating a while, how did McCook finally pop the question? He doesn’t really remember, only that it just sort of happened naturally. “She wanted to have a family, and so did I, and we were really in love. So I said, ‘Let’s just do this.’ The proposal wasn’t a big to-do,” he concludes. But it was the right choice. McCook remains absolutely smitten with his real-life leading lady. “Today, 20 years later, and with every year that going by, it is a big to-do.”
