PHILIP TREACY EARLY DAYS

Drawing inspiration for his fantastical hats from Alice in Wonderland, Philip Treacy brandishes poetic licence, like Lewis Carroll, with fanciful abandon.  But he's no mad hatter. Coming from a small village in the west of Ireland, he studied fashion in Dublin before landing as scholarship to study at London's Royall College of Art. "They set up the millinery course when I got there because they needed a guinea pig " says Treacy.  His first project was to design some Ascot hats for Harrods.  They went down well and I've just continued from there"  Now onto his fourth collection for Harrods,  Treacy also designs the hats for Victor Edelstein's couture collection.
