Spider-Man: Web Splashers Venom (1998)

Web Splashers Venom review by justin anderson

the desription: The Web Splashers line was, at best, a stupid idea. But, at least if Venom's going to be included, they can come up with something new.

the design: Venom is a 5" tall hunchback. Cast in black, with green details, including his chest logo. Eyes and teeth white, and transparent green back fins. Lots of green veins all over him, his feet and right hand are webbed. The design is fairly asymmetrical, with lots of uneven green patches. The right foot even looks like a blob, with no talons to match the left foot. There are also a number of scales and fins over the body.

The toy came with a few accessories. A small inflatable air balloon with fins, with a plastic "Venom whale" piece which fit over it. A small inflator bulb came with it.

the articulation: The figure has 13 joints- neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees, and jaws. Yes, JAWS. The left hand ends in a large mutated fish head, complete with moving jaw.

the review: The theme here is that Venom has adapted for deep sea tracking. And while the line was a cheesy idea to begin with, this figure actually manages to work with the theme. Though I would have used blue instead of green. **** out of *****
