The Lizard II
First appearance: Amazing Spider-Man Super Special #1

In his attempts to cure himself of his lethal alter-ego, the Lizard, Dr. Curt Connors and his lab assistant Aldo, created a serum that would negate the effects of Connors' original serum that turned him into the Lizard to begin with. Frustrated with the lack of results Connors and Aldo theorized a breakthrough in their research by trying the new serum on Connors own DNA, and then applying the combined serum to a piece of an experimental lizard. This new idea in mind, Connors left the lab to begin work on this new idea the following day, but Aldo, in zeal, began the testing that night and a new Lizard was created. A Lizard formed of Connors own DNA, but one that was not human. Leaving Aldo very badly beaten, the lab assistant told Connors about this, while the doctor himself was deathly afraid of this creature that seemed intent on bringing it's "father" down.

When the new Lizard first appeared however, it's true origins were unknown and many assumed that Connors himself had just began to devolve into a more feral state. Calypso, a voodoo witch who had used Connors in his Lizard form in the past, tried to ally herself with the new Lizard thinking it Connors, but the feral beast quickly slew Calypso. The new Lizard was placed into a protective holding in the meta-human penitentary, the Vault, but it soon broke out and crossed paths with Spider-Man and his clone, the Scarlet Spider. Getting away from the two Spider-Men, the Lizard then began to seek out Connors, who was in New York at this time, tending to the sickly Peter Parker. Parker, who had given up his powers and his title of Spider-Man, appeared to be dying and Connors was called in to look after him. When Peter recovered, Connors returned to his home in Florida, where the Lizard followed him, and threatened the life of Connors' son Billy. In order to save his sons life, Connors became the Lizard again and snapped the neck of the new Lizard.

Connors has since gotten past the threat of the Lizard and been purged of his original serum. The new Lizard is still dead.

Powers and Abilities: The second Lizard had the same powers of the first (enhanced strength, razor sharp claws and teeth and a tail), but was much more feral and deadly than the original Lizard.
