The Story so far..
Tony King was a small time crook and
con man. Until 1976, when in a Los Angeles bar after a few too
many Whisky’s he hit upon the idea that would make him his
career. The next morning Tony began his new life as a minister
and founder of the Brotherhood for the Spreading of Funk or the
BSF. His brotherhood as he called them increased rapidly in number.
Until in the new year of 1977 his numbers had swelled and he
was looking for a gimmick to expand further with, when he met
Mr Stylus Skywalker, who was soon to become the Disco Dance champion,
and he became the brotherhoods first celebrity member.
During a publicity event in the summer
of 1977 the brotherhood attracted the unwelcome attention of
a high profile secret agent in the form of Bobby Speed when Tony
inadvertently started an outdoor disco in a baseball stadium
which cancelled the game and saw the Brotherhood labelled as
a cult. In the media whirl wind Stylus Skywalker left the brotherhood
to protect his career, but the brotherhood got the attention
it needed and Tony had become a rich and famous man. His Christmas
1977 Los Angeles tour saw him assume an almost superstar role.
Unfortunately 1978 was to be a bad year
for him, under the constant harassment of Bobby Speed, Tony was
tricked into making one big promise, to produce the legendary
James Brown at one of his rally’s, that he couldn’t
keep. Bobby Speed had also managed to point out to the members
of the Brotherhood that in fact Tony had no cause and no point.
When James Brown failed to make an appearance the party was finally
over for Tony and taking his funds he escaped to Cuba.
When his attempt to form another brotherhood
failed he moved operations to Puerto Rico where he met Chico
Pantolones, the porn star who was then at the peak of his career.
He became Chicos manager but with the onset of the 80’s
and the introduction of video tape Chico and Tony became unemployed.
They then met the unemployed Bobby Speed who reconciled with
Tony. They opened a bar on the beach and were contented. Until
in the spring of 1999 Chico was recruited for the boogie Wonderland
team and in the summer of 1999 Bobby joined him closely followed
by Tony King in the Autumn of that year. |
