It had been a long journey through the jungles. For days rain fell steadily, and
you’ve had the unsettling sensation that something is stalking your path. Each
night, before you rest you debate a fire to ward off predators – which may
attract local Mamba.
The bugs are thick in the air. At times, it is almost unbearable to walk through
the veils of fluttering gnats and mosquitoes. Just as unnerving are the spiders,
large than your hand that scale the trees…the snakes…that could squeeze the life
form your helpless body…that slither the ground…and the larls…that stalk the
shadows.
Alas; you survived those treacheries. Somehow…you made it through the trap lines.
You evaded wild predators. You escaped infection from parasites and bugs. You
eluded the Mamba. You now look back and somehow…those 15 days seem easy, as you
now stand in the looming shadow of a Fortress near the Lake Ngao.
