THE EYE

Grant's Eye
on the World
Have you seen the whereabouts of Saddam lately. Sort of wonder what happened to him. My guess is that he went up (or down) in flames on the first bomb drop. It is my further opinion that he and trashBin Laden are now with their 72 virgins (read that camels). Course they have it better than those suicide bombers they send into carry out the destruction of innocents. They're with their 72 virgin chickens. Let's look at the last couple of weeks. I've been busy.
Speaking of Chicks
Even here in the US of A we got some chickens.
Dixie Chicks Get Support From Al Gore;
Yahoo.com; 3/31/03
(shaking head) This Algore guy can't get anything right I guess. You have to wonder whether he was born an idiot or working extra hard at it.
The Dixie Chicks controversy continues with
the
trio getting some support from former Vice
President Al Gore.
I'm sure those chicks got a vote of confidence with that endorsement. The only thing that could possibly be worse would be a vote of support from Billie-bob Clinton.
Gore spoke to a college audience last week
on
the subject of fewer companies owning more
media outlets, and what he sees as the
increasing lack of tolerance for opposing
views.
Can someone tell me which of those events was more boring - the speaker or the forum?
According to the Tennessean, Gore used
recent
attacks on the Dixie Chicks that followed anti-war
comments by Natalie Maines as an example.
Gore told the audience, "They were made to feel
un-American and risked economic retaliation
because of what was said. Our democracy has
taken a hit," Gore said. "Our best protection is
free and open debate."
Earth to Algore - "go back to your hole, you still don't get it." Doesn't 'Al the bore' get it? No one stopped the Dixie Clucks from saying what they said, they just rejected what they said and voted with their monetary support - or lack of it I should say.
Record sales have fallen for the Chicks and
radio
stations across the country banned the trio's
music after Maines told a London concert crowd
that she was "ashamed the President of the
United States is from Texas." Maines later
released an apology.
Sort of looks like the Clucks didn't look at the polls. You don't condemn someone who has an approval rate of 77%. Even Algore should know that. (Big smile) Well maybe he and other democrats don't. Keep it up.

What do you think? Has Matt Drudge spied in on this site?
HILLARY CLINTON BOOK PAST DUE,
PUBLISHER'S ANGST OVER NO MANUSCRIPT,
NO TITLE; SENATOR TOOK LARGEST ADVANCE
IN HISTORY; DRUDGE REPORT; APRIL 06,
2003
Let's see here, Drudge and I get almost the same number of hits. We both get about 10 a day. Drudge's is measured in millions though.
Executives at publishing powerhouse SIMON
AND SCHUSTER are dismayed over Hillary
Clinton's failure to turn in a completed
manuscript for her book, due out in August, the
DRUDGE REPORT has learned.
Do you remember my commentary on March 10, 2003 when I played the 'what if' game?
The senator of the Empire State has already
received a $2.85 million cash advance on her
memoirs, from a total deal valued at more than
$8 million.
However, I also asked where her philandering husband's book was as well.
"We must be off to the printer next month, but
the
manuscript isn't in yet!" said one SIMON AND
SCHUSTER source last week. "Advance sales
are lagging. And there is no title. Without a title
it's been difficult to market." One top source says
the situation has not reached a legal concern,
rather it is being described as an
"annoyance."
Well to the world of Ahab and Jezebel Clinton. I thought Simon and Schuster were smarter than that, really.
One Clinton intimate explains: "In all fairness,
she has been preoccupied with serving New York
during these challenging times... [But] the writing
is wonderful, touching, and will lift Hillary to a
new level of respect."
Wrong again. You can't trust what her handlers are saying. They haven't told the truth yet. She's waiting for the results of the war. I have to say that she's at least smarter than Algore, but that's not saying too much. She won't trap herself by criticizing W in writing. Even Simon and Schuster know that. And that's not saying much either.
Funnyman is really hilarious
We've heard from the Dixie Clucks and Broom Hillary so let me put something up by the Hollywood left.
Robin Williams blasts Bush; SFgate.com; Mar
31, 2003
You have to wonder about this guy's intelligence quotient as well.
Funnyman Robin Williams has launched a
scathing attack on President George W. Bush
and his decision to go ahead with war on Iraq.
The "One Hour Photo" actor also criticizes what
he sees as his country's mixed messages when
it comes to national security.
The guy plays a DJ in Good Morning, Vietnam and he thinks he's diplomat material.
He says, "America is broke, basically, but
Bush
wants to wage a war that costs pretty much a
billion dollars a month.
Funnyman doesn't know much about finance either. At a billion dollars a month, it's cheap. I'd say $750 million was a bargain for that war (rolling on the floor laughing).

Lurch is back in the news. Mr. Walking Death again inserts his foot.
Kerry says US needs its own 'regime change';
Boston Globe; 4/3/2003
See what I mean!
Senator John F. Kerry said yesterday that
President Bush committed a ''breach of trust'' in
the eyes of many United Nations members by
going to war with Iraq, creating a diplomatic
chasm that will not be bridged as long as Bush
remains in office.
Lurch Kerry has the distinction in life of making Algore look alive. Now that is a feat!
By echoing the ''regime change'' line popular
with hundreds of thousands of antiwar protesters
who have demonstrated across the nation in
recent weeks, the Massachusetts senator and
Democratic presidential contender seemed to be
reaching out to a newly invigorated constituency
as rival Howard Dean, the former governor of
Vermont and a vocal opponent of the war in Iraq,
closes in on Kerry in opinion polls.
You wanna know the question you should be asking? One that really needs to be addressed? Why isn't Broom Hillary saying anything? Go back through my commentaries last year and you'll see the reason. Her handlers are letting everyone else chop themselves off at the knees and told her to shut up. Well they didn't say it like that, but I'm sure they'd like to. Everyone else will die with their comments but Broom Hillary's handlers are not going to let that happen to her. She's much smarter than Algore and Lurch Kerry. But like I've been saying in this week's commentary all along --- that ain't saying much.
