THE EYE KNOWS

Grant's Eye on the World

Looks like things are shaping up to an election showdown. Let's face it, the Republicans have a chance of taking back the Senate, but remember the 2000 election. The dems can make up 10 points in the street. They'll do it too, they already showed us that. Let's round up the troops for the polls and show them that we're tired of liberalism. Tired NO! Fed up is more like it.

Who Pulled This Guy's Chain Anyway

Why is it that the Hollywood left makes more noise than anyone and these people have less brains that most? Think about it. These guys present themselves as the all-knowing gurus of world events and in their daily life they spend their time memorizing and spewing things that someone else wrote for them. Without a script, these guys don't have a job.

ACTOR DIRECTOR ACTIVIST TIM ROBBINS RIPS US POLICY ON IRAQ, TERROR; Drudge Report; Sep 17, 2002
What is it that this guy has done that makes him an authority on anything, let alone on mid-east politics? Probably he hasn't ever even seen Lawrence of Arabia. It was before his time. That'd be his only claim to the subject he propounds to know something about.

"We didn't get Osama bin Laden, so okay, fine, let's accept the fact that we didn't get this guy," Tim Robbins declares in Wednesday editions of the WASHINGTON POST.
Very observant too, except for the fact he never really thought about it too deeply. If this trashBin Laden guy were still alive, don't you think he'd show up now and then in a video somewhere? I mean, don't try to use any thinking here, it might lead to suspicion.

"I'm against this whole 'Let's bomb a new country because things aren't going our way.' It's, let's change the subject from Cheney and Halliburton and the crumbling confidence in the stock market. Talk about cynical! Because it's the cost of human lives that I resent... to put American soldiers in harm's way and to do everything to change the subject so that Republicans can keep control of the House."
Ahh yes, the left wing conspiracy theory at work - enrich oil buddies policy. These liberals really have no depth of thinking at all. IF it were all about oil and getting a hold of it and getting rich, just why didn't America take it all away from Iraq in 1991? What did we do? We liberated Kuwait and saved Saudi Arabia and left. Price of oil plummeted. I guess facts and thinking have no place in the liberal mind. He's too busy worried about human life. Unless the subject of spotted owls comes up. Then all bets are off.

Now You Got Him Scared!

Let me take you back a few weeks to a comment someone made, but first check out this headline story.

Israel Tells the U.S. It Will Retaliate if Attacked by Iraq; By MICHAEL R. GORDON; New York Times; Sep 21, 2002
Ok, now let's see who is affected here.

Prime Minister Ariel Sharon has informed the Bush administration that he plans to strike back if Iraq attacks Israel, according to Israeli and Western officials.
Let's see now, I guess the Iraqis would be affected with that news.

The prime minister's position reflects a widespread belief among Israeli politicians and generals that Arab leaders perceived Israel's restraint in 1991 as weakness.
I guess Lebanon, Syria, and Jordan also might be affected by that statement.

"I don't think there is a scenario in which Israel will get hit and not strike back," a senior Western official said. "I think the evolving strategy will be commensurate response."
I guess General Yassar Arafat would be affected by that statement.

The United States has also quietly installed a data link to rush early warning of Iraqi missile launchings to Israeli commanders. The information would be gathered by American satellites and sent by the United States to Israel's Air Force headquarters, Israeli officials said.
Who really is affected most by that statement? (snicker, snicker) Now who could be quaking in his boots about an Iraqi attack on Israel? I mean just who loses sleep each night and surfs the internet hoping and praying that Iraq has not launched any attack on Israel? Take a look.

Clinton flies in with a peace plan; Toronto Star; 7/30/02
Clinton drew applause for his own commitment to Israel when he stated that should the Iraqis ever cross over the Israeli border for aggression, "I would personally get in a ditch, grab a rifle, and fight and die."
Someone want to remind the ex-impeached president about his appointment in the ditch. I ain't talking Teddy Kennedy driving ditch either. (Big smile) I want to see this guy fight something other than Newt Gingrich and Broom Hillary. This guy has an appointment with destiny. All you Vietnam vets listen up.

Hey! Where's the Outcry?

Take a look at another story about to be swept under the rug. I'm surprised this was even reported, but it wasn't covered like it should have been.

Record Fines in Democrat 96 Case; Washington Post; Sep 21, 2002
Remember the infamous Algore iced tea defense? Remember Shaky Janet's refusal to look into this before the 2000 election? Well you will now see why.

The Federal Election Commission disclosed yesterday it has imposed a record-setting $719,000 in fines against participants in the 1996 Democratic Party fundraising scandals involving contributions from China, Korea and other foreign sources.
Understand now why Shaky Reno refused to look into illegal fundraising? Ol' Shaky ought to be investigated.

THE FEC DOCUMENTS describe Democratic fundraisers who set specific prices for foreign nationals to make illegal campaign contributions in return for meetings with then-President Bill Clinton and Vice President Al Gore. A Democratic finance vice chair, for example, said organizers would have to contribute a total of $100,000 in return for Gore's appearance at a Buddhist temple in Los Angeles.
Looks like the facts speak for themselves here. And Algore came within a gnats eyelash of stealing the election!

Those penalized included the Democratic National Committee, the Clinton-Gore campaign, the Buddhist temple and nearly two dozen people and corporations acting as conduits for illegal contributions. All have agreed to pay, according to the documents.
And yet another scandal comes to light. Oh, pardon me, this was just a right wing conspiracy theory, wasn't it.

The DNC was fined $115,000, the Clinton-Gore campaign $2,000, and the Buddhist Progress Society $120,000. In the conciliation signed by DNC lawyer Joseph Sandler, the party agreed to pay the fine and to "disgorge [another] $128,000" to the U.S. Treasury, representing illegal contributions that were not returned to donors.
And the recipients and guilty people of these illegal scams receive the lightest penalty of all. Doesn't this seem a little strange? I mean everyone else associated with the Clinton-Gore slime ended up in jail or fled the country to avoid jail. Billie-bob and Algore get a 2 grand fine.

In a separate document, the FEC said it decided to drop cases against contributors of more than $3 million in illegal DNC contributions because the respondents are either "are out of the country and beyond our reach, or corporations that are defunct."
So why isn't the money being returned? The DNC out of the country? We could only wish they were defunct.

Not All Upright Species Living in Trees are Apes

Anyone ever have a tree house when they were a kid? A place where you'd gather a few of the guys together and do prepubescent boy things?

Bay Area homeless couple must leave mountain tree home; Sacramento Bee/AP; Sep 16, 2002
We have quite a pair for you to look at.

The couple's driveway is a steep, narrow trail that winds through a sun-drenched landscape of hardy California scrub. Their front steps are rocky footholds in the earth. Their living room is nestled within the shady embrace of a sprawling oak tree. Sounds wonderfully intriguing. But the couple may soon lose their roost. San Mateo County officials recently stapled a 30-day eviction notice to the tree, and the case will go to a judge if they're not gone by Sept. 26.
(GASP!) The county official actually drove a staple into that poor tree. He'll soon be up to his butt in alligators for that move.

Because of health and safety concerns, county law prohibits anyone from living in a park - especially one teeming with rare and endangered plants and insects such as the San Francisco Wallflower and the Mission Blue Butterfly.
See that? What'd I point out in the first story? When it comes down to it, insects, plants, and birds have it all over humans. Don't these homeless people know that?

Caballero, who has schizophrenia, and Serdahely, who struggles with alcoholism, lucked into the mountain hideaway through a circle of friends they met along the railroad tracks just south of town. The original owner was moving in with a schoolteacher, and was looking for the right people to inherit the spot.
Now if that ain't a liberal match made in heaven. An Hispanic schizoid and an alcoholic homeless couple inheriting these digs from a schoolteacher in an endangered species protected area.

David Schooley, founder of San Bruno Mountain Watch, an anti-development group that is fighting the eviction, said the pair pluck invasive plants from the soil, allowing native species to flourish. They've also welcomed hundreds of schoolchildren who have trekked up the hills over the years to see a different way of living.
(rolling eyes) Only a liberal would come up with something that stupid! Who wins this liberal dilemma? The homeless? The tree? The plants? The butterflies? We know one thing. Better not give this to a liberal judge to hear. It'll never get decided, unless they bring in those spotted owls. Maybe they could toss in a few Coho River Salmon. Just to flavor things a bit more.
