THE EYE KNOWS
Grant's Eye on the World
It's the Labor Day weekend. Guess what happens when it ends? That's right, election politicking officially kicks off on Tuesday. Guess what? The liberals never stopped politicking and neither has the mainstream press. Watch the news closely and be prepared to spot the lies. Well that's not hard to do, let's do it this way. Look even closer and see if you can find any truth. That's much, much more difficult. So until the U.S. political machine gets revved up, let's look at the world politics. (Sigh) You prepared?
Who is the Source for the World's
Trouble?
Got a complaint against the US? Why not? Stand in line, everyone else does. Let's take a look at this. Enough to make you toss up your lunch.
Britain blames US for failing world's
poor; Time Online (UK); Aug 26, 2002
Well they're still at it. Who, Eye? What's your gripe now?
Deep tensions between Britain and
the
US have emerged ahead of the Earth
Summit in Johannesburg, which remains
shrouded in pessimism ahead of its
official start today.
My question simply is "Who gives a rat's behind?" If you've never been to England you're in for a surprise. These people at one time were great, but hey, you can't rest on your laurels for 500 years. It's over, get over it.
The summit is aimed at reducing world
poverty through promoting
environmentally sustainable growth,
and although it is seen as the most
important world summit for years, there
are growing concerns that virtually
nothing significant will be achieved.
A noble goal, but one that is impossible. Why? It's like every other stupid leftist idea, it sounds good but it will never work. There is only one way to reduce world poverty, and that is against the leftist ideology - capitalism. Capitalism and freedom is the only way to do it. How do I know? Take a look at the world today and tell me which system works best.
However, the US yesterday made clear
that it does not want any new targets
and will not provide any new money to
reduce poverty or help protect the
environment. The head of the US
delegation John Turner said yesterday:
"We don't see the need for any new
targets."
Why is it that the US has to pay for this? Oh come on Eye, you're such a damn cynic. Well why is it up to the US? Oh Eye, the US government has plenty of money. NO - the government has no money that is not confiscated from the people. Why is it up to the American people/taxpayer to pay our money to increase the standard of living for people who despise us?
Although 100 world leaders have said
they will attend the summit, President
Bush has said he will not attend. The
head of the British delegation, the
Environment Secretary Margaret
Beckett, yesterday showed growing
frustration with American intransigence,
which could derail the summit. She said:
"It's true that the American government
is not doing as much as we would all like
to see it do, but that's doesn't mean
there aren't lots of people in America
who take these issues just as seriously
as they deserve".
No Maggie, not so. No one in his or her right mind in America gives a hoot. Evidenced by the great success in money received in the state of Arkansas for a program started by the governor who set up a fund for people who thought they weren't paying enough taxes and wanted to pay more. They got $300. Just to show you what benevolent guy I am, I'll kick in 300 bucks to you. Don't spend it all in one place. Maggie, the thing here is most people in Britain don't agree with you either.
While on the subject. . .
I've got a few more articles on this earth summit meeting. Been lot's of comments on the importance (not my opinion) of this stupid get together, but not much on what's really going on behind the scenes.
End 'Global Apartheid' Call Heralds
Earth Summit; Reuters; Aug 25, 2002
Global apartheid (sigh), this is a joke.
As the summit formally begins Monday,
Nelson Mandela, who led black South
Africans to freedom from white minority
rule, will address some of the tens of
thousands of campaigners who have
arrived in Johannesburg to lobby their
leaders.
Oh great, the crook himself. This guy brought South Africa into socialism. What's the result? Crime has sky rocketed, shakedowns are commonplace, and people have had to barricade themselves in their houses out of fear. Now that everything is in disarray, businesses and the productive citizenry have vacated the country. Their northern neighbor Zimbabwe have a much worse problem. I think maybe South Africa will eventually be crying for apartheid to return.
Bush, however, is not coming,
provoking
critics to question the commitment of
the global superpower and biggest
polluter to the green agenda first
agreed at Rio de Janeiro 10 years
ago.
Biggest polluter? I guess the greens have an agenda all right. The real polluters of the earth are third world countries. During the heyday of socialism in Russia, they almost destroyed the Black Sea. The Eastern European countries have polluted the Danube to the point of destroying all aquatic life in it. Pollution in China is out of control as it is in all underdeveloped countries in Asia. So how is that the USA is the biggest polluter? Statistics show that lake water in America is less toxic than bottled mineral water.
Richer nations complain that much of
their aid has been squandered by
corrupt or incompetent governments in
the Third World and are demanding
better guarantees of good
governance.
Yeah, I agree. You can start with Nelson Mandela, Yassar Arafat, and all other friends of the left. You'll find more than 300 bucks I've offered to kick in, I guarantee it.
Some of Johannesburg's poor
questioned, however, how much real will
there was on the part of the rich world
to help them.
"They spent thousands preparing for
the summit to improve a place that is
already good," street vendor Wilson
Mathebula said in the shanty township
of Alexandra, on a hill above the
summit.
"What about us here? It's wrong all that
money and glamour just at our doorstep
-- they don't even know that we are
here."
Keep the above comments in mind while I move into the last story on this stupid summit.
The Real Summit Story Goes
Unreported
Ok review the 3 comments above and listen to the crying that's being reported by the mainstream press and greenies.
Lobsters, caviar and brandy for MPs at
summit on starvation; Aug 31, 2002; Sun
online (UK)
While people are starving, we have our crybaby delegates living it up in a 5 star hotel. What the hell, it's the people's money anyway. We're wiping out starvation (I'm starved, let's eat).
THE sickening champagne and caviar
lifestyle being enjoyed by Earth Summit
delegates was exposed yesterday. They
are gorging on mountains of lobster,
oysters and fillet steak at the
Johannesburg conference - aimed at
ending FAMINE.
Sounds like these people are really dedicated in their mission.
Mr Morgan said: "Whether they want
Beluga caviar, foie gras or bacon
sandwiches - we have it all. "In my
experience, heads of state don't decide
what they want to eat or drink until the
last minute. "So I have to make sure I
have everything they can possibly
want." Vintage champagne, fine wines,
spirits and liqueurs have been flown in
from around the globe so the VIPs can
wash down their meals in style.
And down the street less than 200 yards away, kids are sipping vintage sewer water, dining on gourmet trash, and sleeping with rats.
The £35million summit - aimed at
combating hunger, poverty and pollution
- is centred around Sandton, the most
exclusive suburb in Africa.
That's about $55 million. Goes a long way to reducing poverty -er, would go a long way. You'll have to pry it out of the lobster shell breaking butter-scared hands of the 60,000 attending delegates. That is only if you can avoid the mountain of champagne bottles in the way. These delegates have it rough.
Awwww, He Apologized, Let Him
Go
The liberals are a forgiving lot --- to other liberals only, though.
Lawyers: Lindh Seeks Forgiveness;
Foxnews.com/AP; Aug 31, 2002
So the guy was a traitor, involved in taking up arms against his own countrymen, he seeks forgiveness.
John Walker Lindh, dubbed "Taliban
John," wants Americans to forgive him
for joining the Taliban military and his
lawyers say he is now coughing up what
he knows about other fighters and his
military training.
The guy is already fortunate. He should be incarcerated in a jail in Afghanistan. See how far his apology will get there.
Although Lindh's lawyers, Tony West
and George Harris, in interviews last
week, would not give more details of
what information their client is giving to
the government, they gave details of his
everyday activity and said he is truly
sorry for what happened and maintains
the Sept. 11 attacks were contrary to
the teachings of Islam.
He just discovered that? What kind of Muslim is he? The rest of the world already knew it, so what took this slime bag so long to figure it out?
Lindh, 21, is undergoing debriefings
with
government agencies as part of a plea
agreement. He would receive a
maximum 20-year prison term if officials
are satisfied with his cooperation and
the judge approves the deal at an Oct. 4
sentencing. Multiple agencies are
attending the debriefings.
Twenty years is a bargain compared to 1 year in an Afghani jail, or death by firing squad for being a traitor.
"He made a mistake. He admits he
made
a terrible mistake. No one wants to be
judged by the worst mistake they made
when they were 20 years old."
Ask one of the 50,000 killed in Viet Nam. A lot of those gave up their lives as young as 19. Guess bin Walker here needs some sympathy. You get none from me. I vote for the firing squad. But then, why not? I'm not liberal. I couldn't possibly be compassionate.
