Loughborough Fair
The annual Loughborough Street Fair has
been held in the town for over 750 years. The fair runs from the second
Thursday in November to 11pm the following Saturday. The opening
ceremony takes place on Thursday when the Mayor of Charnwood officially
reads out the declaration from a copy of the Ancient Charter granted by
King Henry III from the balcony of Loughborough
Town Hall at 12 noon.
Approximately 100 showmen attend the Fair
each year with some 20 large rides, numerous children’s roundabouts,
game and novelty stalls, amusement arcades and the ever renowned
refreshment stands.
Whether it’s the Crazy Shake, Meteorite, Miami, Top Spin, Super Bowl,
Sea Storm, or the more traditional Galloping Horses, Waltzers, Dodgems or
Cyclone that you fancy the Fair caters for the whole family. There
are always one or two unexpected surprises.
