Summary : : Bull (Harris) McCabe's family has farmed a field for generations, sacrificing endlessly for the sake of the land. And when the widow who owns the field decides to sell the field in a public auction, McCabe finally has the chance to own it. No one in the village would dare bid against him, but an American (Berenger) looking for his 'roots', and with more money than McCabe can raise, bids against him. Bull and his slightly half-witted son try to convince the Yank to go home, but things get out of hand, and Bull McCabe loses more than he ever thought possible.

Review : : I had a hard time watching this movie at first. I thought it would bore me to tears, even though I've loved Richard Harris ever since Camelot, way back when. But I sat spellbound, and I will not tell you the ending, but I will say that the final image you have of Bull McCabe is so powerful it will make you cry.
