Summary : : When the Dark Lord Sauron's ring of power is found, a fellowship of nine companions set out on a quest to destroy it. They encounter a treacherous wizard, vicious orcs, and a demon from beyond time. But their greatest enemy is found within themselves, and they battle the evil of the ring as it tries to conquer them all.

Review : : Peter Jackson's long-awaited and sweeping production of J.R.R. Tolkien's classic trilogy, The Lord of the Rings, was maligned as much as it was praised. Having been a Tolkien fan since the age of 12, more years ago than I care to admit, I do not understand those who complain about the films. Yes, liberties were taken. Yes things were changed, people were moved from here to there, dialogue lifted from one section and placed somewhere else, even minor plotlines were changed. But Peter Jackson and his 'fellowship' kept the spirit of Tolkien, and the heart of the story, love and friendship, loyalty and honor, came shining through. I do not understand the so-called 'purists' who so proudly denigrate this film, already a classic in its own right. Nor do I understand those who even more proudly boast how they refuse to even see the film, as it would be an insult to the memory of Tolkien. It is deeply their loss, and only means more popcorn for me.
