Established on 15th March 2002 the name 4th Official came
about after the drummer (Andrew Osnain) decided one of the members previous
occupations warranted recognition. Michael Klaver (guitarist), holds his
official referees license in the world game known as soccer. Hence, his
occupation inspired the name.
The 4th Official started out as InYouEndo, however, after
some serious deliberation (and the need to avoid the dreaded boy band tag!),
the group endeavored to establish a new name.
Founding members included Richard Cardy, Damian Coppin and
Brendan Hatch, who has written lyrics to a portion of the 4th Official's
repertoire, circa Feb 2001. Come August it was time for another
guitarist, cue Klaves. Mike was struggling with creating a band of his
own and for a laugh replied to an ad in the the local street press for a
guitarist with influences from Lennon Crowded House and the clincher, Oasis.
The chemistry was spot on and Klaves joined the band.
After several unsuccessful attempts to find the correct
drummer for the job and a few live performances under their belt, Andrew
Osnain was drafted in behind the cans and the formula was complete.
The boys have recorded an 8 track demo (which is available
via email and at gigs), at Blackbird Sound Studios in March 2002. They
are currently in negotiations with several booking agencies and are waiting
for the right deal. They are without a doubt THE next big thing!!!!!
