| Randomly Chosen Character of the Month |
| Full Name: Arwen Undomiel; sometimes called Evenstar by her people. Family: Elrond Half-Elven is her father and her mother Celebrian is the daughter of Celeborn and Galadriel, rulers of Lothlorien. She has two brothers: Elladan and Elrohir. When We Meet Her: In the FotR, when she rushes to meet and find Aragorn and the Company of the Ring right before the Fords of Bruinen. Characterization: To most Tolkieners, it is said that she is a nuisance, taking on Glorfindel's role to save Frodo. But, as Peter Jackson clearly states: her role had to be established. In my opinion, she brings a support system, a love story, and a new level of bravery to the story of the Lord of the Rings. She met and fell in love with Aragorn (who was a mortal, she being immortal) and chose, like Luthien, a mortal life. Her dark beauty resembled that of Luthien herself. Cutest Moment In the Movies: I have chosen two. When, in FotR, she says:" What's this? A Ranger caught off his guard?" and when she and Aragorn meet again in Gondor in RotK. She looks incredibly happy to be there- just in his presence, and she doesn't look like she can hold it in. Fatal Flaw: Well...(:)) too bad she doesn't really have one. In her case, her fatal flaw was in choosing a mortal life. Many Tolkieners would beg to differ -saying that her fatal flaw was being in the movies (:)). Most Memorable Moment: I don't really know an answer to that one. I'd say she most remembered for saving dire little Frodo (also known as her very influential entrance). Second would be her scene in TTT when she tells Aragorn to keep the necklace (EE). Tear-Jerker: When she lets Aragorn go inspite of herself. And maybe, in RotK, when they're reunited (though not for me). Fav Fan Scenes: (Email me to be put here). My Rating Of Her: Tough, but probably a 8.2 :). |

| Random Thought of The Month |

| Well, guys, I have totally failed my duties as being an every month Random Character Updater. September is coming soon, you can bet that. Even if it comes all the way in October, with the October Character, it'll be here. I promise. Layout is going smoothly, but I have to get that done first! Be on the lookout, though! |
| Here goes. A short little random thought for this month. I just heard the music from the Grey Havens (not "Into the West", just the instrumental version from the movie)for the first time in forever on a website- and felt that wonderfully crazy exciting and so-full-of-emotion-feeling that I always get when I hear that beautiful music. What I love about that music is that I can almost remember being in the theater this past Christmas, staring at the huge and encompassing screen in awe the entire time the last installment unfolded; holding my breath to see what happend next, saddened by Arwen's vision, smiling for the defeat of Sauron, crying for the breaking Fellowship, and hurting for Sam and Frodo all at the same time. In the very depths of that music runs emotion, and you can feel it. One of the best examples is the Grey Havens music, and the Fellowship music- both make you swell with sound and feeling. I just wish I had been in the theaters to see the first two movies, because seeing a movie in the theaters makes the remembrance so much clearer. |
