Running in and around Thailand

This page is an attempt to provide some information and some assistance for people who may wish to run in fun runs or long distance races in Thailand - especially, but not exclusively in Bangkok. There are very many good races in Thailand every year, foreigners are always most welcome to take part, but often it is not so easy to find out where and when and how to enter etc. Somewhere in Thailand, usually in or near Bangkok, there is a 10km, half or full marathon almost every Sunday, and on most public holidays as well. The start time is usually 6:00 a.m. and many races start either in Lumpini Park or Rama IX Park.

In 2001 there were at least 12 full marathons in and around Thailand: Chombung, Chiang Mai, Petchaburi, Lumpini, Rama IX Park, Phuket, Pattaya, Hat Yai, Songkhla, Bangkok, Surin), plus Kuala Lumpur in April, Penang in June, Singapore, Vientiane, Laos and Manila - all in December.
