Thuy Trang's father was a soilder in the Army of the Republic of Vietnam (ARVN) and was defending the capital of Saigon, from Communist North Vietnamese Army. Only two years old, Thuy and her family had to escape Hanoi, due to Vietcong forces invading there homeland. In 1979, Thuy and her family boarded a cargo ship with hundreds of other prosecuted Southern Vietnamese and arrived in Hong Kong. Thuy's father was contacted and he petitioned the United States government for political asylum for his family. In the end, Thuy and her family reached America and she was reunited with her father in 1980, in Little Saigon, California. At the age of nine, Thuy began to learn the art of Kung Fu. She graduated from Banning High School and then attended the University of California, Irvine. Thuy's career as an actress took off in 1993, when was given a role on the popular show, "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" as Trini Kwan, the original yellow ranger. Children of all ages were able to get a glimpse of a strong, female Asian character. I know growing up as a child, I really looked up to Trini (Thuy Trang) and felt she was the most noble and intelligent superhero I had ever seen. I was deeply hurt when she was later replaced by another person on the show in 1994, but continued to be an admiring fan. In 1996, she had a cameo appearance in the movie, "Spy Hard", as masseuse. The same year, Thuy starred in the movie, "The Crow: City of Angels", where she played a villain called Kali. Audiences were able to see Thuy's actress skills at a higher level than as Trini. Despite the fact that Thuy's character, Kali, was ruthless, she did a great job of bringing the characters sexy, yet saddistic nature to life. Saddly, however, Thuy Trang's career as an actress was cut short on September 3,2001, in San Francisco, California when a drunk driver hit the vehicle she was traveling in. No doubt, Thuy's passing was a horrible occurrence and she will be deeply missed, and never forgotten.

Ming-na's parents divorced when she was a toddler, and she moved with mother to Hong Kong, where her mother became a nurse. Ming-Na (meaning "enlightenment" when translated) moved with her family to Queens, New York at the age of 4 , when her mother remarried a Chinese-American Businessman. Five years later her family moved to her stepfather's hometown of Pittsburgh. Ming-na had a hard time fitting in at school, and so decided to change her name to Maggie and Doris. She unlocked a passion for acting when she played a bunny named "klutzy" in a 3rd grade Easter play. However, Ming-Na's mother was not as excited about her daughters new interest, and preferred for Ming-Na to pursue medicine instead. Going against her mothers wishes to follow her own dreams, Ming-Na graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with a degree in theater. In 1988, Ming-Na broke a barrier and landed her first acting job, when she became the first Asian women to receive a contract role in daytime television history, in "As The World Turns". However her big break did come until 1993, when she starred in Amy Tan's best selling novel, turned movie, "The Joy Luck Club", as Jing-Mei Woo. In 1995, Ming-Na permanently moved to LA and married Eric Michael Zee, a student of her acting instructor, who she had been dating for a year after he gave her a ride to a premiere. Ming-Na has gone on to star in the fantastic series, "ER", played Capcoms female hero Chun-li in the movie "Streetfighter" , provides the wonderful voice behind Disney's
"Mulan" and has done many other projects in her great career as an actress. Ming-Na was also voted one of People magazines, fifty most beautiful people.
