[Transformers Universe]
[Character Setup]

All right. So you have a character now! Congratulations! Now, before you go IC and start enjoying the continuing adventures of the Transformers Universe, there are a few things you need to do to set your character up to be ready for what's ahead.

Transform Code

The first, for Transformers, and for the civilian 'mode' for GI Joe chars, is the transform coding. The transform code goes as follows:

To transform from one mode to another, use

+transform #

For example, if you're playing Optimus Prime, and you want to transform into his mode 2 (tractor trailer mode), you'd type

+transform 2.

Mode descriptions: Mode descriptions define the way your character looks when she transforms to a particular mode. Setting these up is a fairly painless affair. To do it, use this:

&desc_1 me= (ex: &desc_1 me=A robot.)
&desc_2 me=< mode 2 description > (ex: &desc_2 me=A car.)

These are just general examples. If you check +stats, your mode names will be listed, to give you an idea of what kind of description you should have for each particular mode. Descriptions should be a lot longer and more detailed than the examples given, but never longer than one screenlength.

After you set your descriptions, you also need to set names for your alternate modes. This would usually be a vehicle name for a Transformer; for a Cobra/ G.I.Joe character, it would usually be the civilian name of the character.

To set your alt-name, use this:

&name_2 me=< name > (IE: &name_2 me=Red Semi <Optimus Prime>)

That's easy enough, yes? Once you have your name_2 (and desc_3/name_3 for Triple Changers) set, you're ready to move on. The next fun thing you need to set up on your character is the transform message. Remember how the Transformers unfolded and transformed? Well, now's your chance to describe in your own words what happens. To set this message up, use this:

&transform_msg_# me=< message to emit when you transform into mode #>

(ex: &transform_msg_1 me=The semi launches in the air, arms unfolding into the awesome form of Autobot Leader Optimus Prime.

Keep transform_msgs short, since they spam everyone in the room with you.

Now for the tricky one. When you transform, you might want your &say changed (for when you use '<msg< instead of the more generic say/"), as well as your omove (the message displayed as you come into a room; prepended by your name), and the oxmove (message displayed as you leave the room; again, prepended by your name). This can all be accomplished by using the amode_<x> attribute. To try that, use something like this:

&amode_1 me=@omove me=walks quickly into the area. ; @oxmove me=walks quickly out of the area. ; &say me=calmly says

Now, on to the +personal/+oocfinger information! The OOC information command on TFU is coded to be +personal and +oocfinger (while IC information can be found with +finger/+icfinger ) The fields of +personal match the attributes that need to be set for filling them in.

For your alias, use @alias me=<whatever>.

Ex: @alias me=Op

For the rest, the attrs correspond to the fields they go in. So, &<field> me=< value >.

Ex: &email me=admin@tfuniverse.net.

Our current +personal fields include Email, Birthday, Webpage, Altchars, and Info.

To get on channels, see "news addcom" on the MUX. The format is

addcom <desired chan alias> = < chan title (case-sensitive) >
Ex: addcom +p=Public

That's it! Any questions, log on and page an admin, or email us @ admin@tfuniverse.net
