How many chainsaws were used in the movie?
Only one chainsaw was used in the film, and luckily it always started, so the filmmakers had no problems with it at all.

Why did Leatherface constantly cut branches when he was chasing Sally?
Because Marilyn Burns was a very slow runner, and Gunnar Hansen had to stall time othwerwise he would catch up with her too quickly.

I heard that the blood and injuries on Marilyn Burns were real. Is this true?
Yes, actually she was injured a lot when filming, and she scratched herself badly on branches while running from Leatherface. She was also injured during the finger cutting scene. At first there was a piece of tape covering the blade of the knife so it wouldn't cut her, but after several unsuccessful takes Gunnar turned around, took the tape off, and actually cut Marilyn's finger.

Is it true that Marilyn Burns and Paul Partain didn't get along well?
Yes it actually is true, and most of their arguing in the film is real.

How did they film the scene when the hitchiker gets hit by the truck?
The scene was shot in reverse, so the actor was just standing there while the truck backed up.

How many times did Terri McMinn's character have to fall into the bone room?
She had to fall in there 24 times.

Is The Texas Chainsaw Massacre a true story?
Not exactly. It is based on the crimes of serial killer Ed Gein, who murdered people and was a grave robber. The entire look of the farmhouse was based on Ed Gein's home.
