| Farrell has gained a legion of fans with her role for seven seasons as Science Officer Lieutenant Commander Jadzia Dax on Paramount's successful syndicated drama series Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Her character Dax was an alien species known as a Trill, which made her appear as if she were a young woman, though she possessed the wisdom and knowledge of a 300 year-old life form. Born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Farrell moved to New York at the age of 17 after attracting the attention of the Elite modeling agency. Signing with them, she worked steadily as a model for three years, gracing the covers of Mademoiselle and German Vogue magazines. During her tenure as a model, Farrell landed her first major role in the drama series Paper Dolls. After moving to Los Angeles, she amassed a slate of guest-starring parts in Quantum Leap, The Cosby Show, The Twilight Zone and Family Ties and appeared in such telefilms and miniseries as L.A. Madame, Reasons of the Heart, Deliberate Stranger and Danielle Steele's Star. Her feature film credits include Back to School, Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth and Off the Mark. Farrell lives in Los Angeles with her dogs Billy and Ramona. |
