TOM'S MODIFIED

CAR PAGE
For years I have wanted to build a car that would be a little different fron the everday      street rides everyone else seems to build ( Corvetts, Camaro's, Mustang's etc..)  I didn't know what kind of car it would be, but I knew it would be sporting a small block chevy engine.  So I found a 350ci engine from a old truck, I think around 1972 and tore it down to the bare block.  It was worn heavly, but I sent the block and heads to  the machine shop.  The heads were in pretty good shape, just a good valve job and new seals.  The block on the other hand was worn bad, it had to be bored .060 to
clean up.  So I ended up with a block + set of heads.  Everyhing else had to be  replaced.
I ended up with a chevy small block with appx. 400 HP and 5 coats of chevy orange  paint sprayed over it, sitting on the engine stand and no car to put it in.

After searching around a bit and checking in trade   papers.  I saw an ad.  For Sale:  1984 300 ZX
Engine knocks.  $500.00.  I went to look at the car and it was in pretty good shape.  (I didn't care about the engine knock).  I bought the Z for $450.00.
Now I had a engine and a car.........
It only took about 30 days to get the  old Z engine and trans. out and put in
the 350 engine and 350 trans.   But then it was another 6 months of debugging all the little bugs and finishing touches of the mechanical aspects of the job.

I am still working on the cosmetic portion.  I had to replace some sheet metal at the lower rear quarter panels.  But most of the body was in good shape.  It was painted in April of 2001 in PPG concept black.
Wheels were not easy to find.  I finely got Centerline to make a set of Tiegon style wheels with a 5 inch offset.  About the only thing that I have left to do, is window tinting and a complete interior make over.
