The Gills were designed for amphibious sabotage (such as laying mines). They communicated by squeals, and Manticore used a computer interface to communicate with them. They escaped Manticore by a stream located nearby which ran into the Duwamish River. A group of fishermen netted Gill Girl. Seeing her gills, they came to the conclusion that she was a mermaid. They demonstrated their business sense by selling Gill Girl to the Blowfish Tavern in sector 9, where she was put on display. Gill Girl got to float around in a tank where horny men could gape at her to their hearts content. Alec saw Gill Girl and her barcode on his own visit to the tavern and went to go tell Max. Max and Alec returned to the Blowfish Tavern with a rescue attempt in mind. They spotted a man intently watching Gill Girl and decided that he must be working for White. Before he could make his move, they all moved out into the alleyway where a fight ensued. The man got tossed into a wall, and his vest broke. Oh no! He wasn't a bad guy--he was Gill Guy! And while they had been busy fighting each other, White had swept in and taken Gill Girl. Alec and Max carted Gill Guy over to Logan's apartment and set him down in the shower while Asha fixed the vest which allowed Gill Guy to survive out of water. In a (by now) familiar course of events, Logan discovered where White was keeping the transgenic of the week, and Max and Alec along with Gill Guy went off to save Gill Girl. There was the usual skulking about, some fighting, and the daring rescue itself. Gill Girl was saved, and she and Gill Guy were reunited with their little tadpoles. The Gill family swam off together (maybe they're heading for Canadian waters!) The Gills appeared in Gill Girl. |
