The Recovery

Parker got Jarod home and up to their room.

"Honey, come here." Jarod shouted from the bed.

Parker entered the room from the hallway.

"What is is?" She asked as went to his side.

"I've rested long enough. I want to go downstairs."

"No. The doctor said you should rest a few more days before doing your normal routine again. Besides, you have only been up here five minutes." She stood and the edge of the bed with her hands on her hips.

"I know but I'm lonely."

"You haven't seen lonely yet. I had to stay several weeks up here by myself."

"I know but that was different." He pulled her down beside him.

"And how was that different?" She asked as her right eye brow raised.

"You were pregnant and I'm not."

"Who got me that way?" Her head tilted slightly as she waited for an answer.

"Okay but if I have to stay up here then I think you should have to keep me occupied."

"Oh really?!" She shot him a look.

"Yes and I know just how you can do it." He bent her down toward him. Then he kissed her neck and started to move downward when there was a knock on the door.

"Come in." Parker sat back up. "Angelo."

"Angelo had to check on Jarod." He came over to the bed.

"Angelo, you can entertain Jarod while I finish things downstairs." Parker stood.

"Hey, I thought that was your job."

"Later." She walked out.

"Promise!" Jarod yelled.

She popped her head back in. "We'll see." She smiled and exited again.

Next morning

Simone entered the tech room and found Broots and Parker talking.

"I'm glad I found you."

"Who? Me?" Parker looked over at her.

"Yeah. Who else?"

"You could have been talking to Broots." Parker answered as she glanced down the balding tech.

"I have seen him already."

"Well." Broots huffed.

"I'm kidding." Simone gave him a kiss.

Parker turned her head as she stepped away. She was glad that Simone made Broots happy but she didn't want to see it. She cleared her throat. "What was it you wanted?"

"How is Jarod?"

"Good. I'm not sure who is the bigger baby him or the kids?"

"Him. I'm sure." Simone smiled as she looked down at her husband.

"Hey, what did I do?"

"Nothing. You are just the same species." Simone laughed.

"If you two are going to be that way would you please leave my area." Broots began typing away again.

The two women faced each other and smiled. "Bye." They said in unison.

Broots shook his head as he watched them leave.

They made their way down hall and into Parker's office.

"I wanted to ask you something and you can say no if you want."

"What is it?"

"Broots won't do lamaze with me and I was wondering if you would."

"Sure." Parker walked over to her desk and turned to where she faced Simone.

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah. I know how a big baby Broots is when it comes to blood." She looked down the files on her desk.

"He won't even stay in the delivery room with me."

"Why? He won't see anything if he doesn't look." Parker laughed as she glanced back up.

"I know but he said he would stay with until it was time to deliver."

"I would be happy to help you. Just remind me when it's time to start the classes."

"Thanks." Simone smiled as she turned to walk out.

"Is that all?" Parker asked as she watched her leave.

"Yep. I figured you had other things to do. I'll catch you later."

Parker started finishing up some paper work when she realized she needed to get home to her big baby at home. She stopped by the day care and gathered up the triplets. Then headed home.

"Honey, is that you?" Jarod peered down from the top of the stairs.

"Yes. What are you up to?" She watched him grin from ear to ear.

"I missed you." He made his way down the stairs and took Jacob out of his carrier.

"I missed you too." She answered him.

Jarod pulled her close to him.

"I have another one to go." She pointed toward the door.

"Oh." He sat down on the couch and waited for her.

It was late at the night. Parker got the kids in bed and headed that way herself. She climbed in the bed when Jarod rolled over.

"Hey, I have been resting all day."

"Good." She answered without facing him.

"I thought you might want to reward me." He whispered.

"Not tonight. I'm tried." Her head hit the pillow.

Jarod moved closer to her. He wrapped his arms around her. "Melissa."

"Uh?"

"Can I at least have a kiss?"

"Sure." She rolled over and gave him a peck on the cheek. Then she rolled over and fell asleep.

Jarod let a deep frustrating breath. Then he laid back and stared at the ceiling.

The next morning Jarod was laying across Parker.

"Jarod, get up." Parker nudged him.

"Mmm." He raised up and stared down at his wife. "What?"

"Get up."

"Why?"

"Because I have to get going."

"You can sleep in a little longer. You have been going in too early."

"So I can get things done and hurry home."

Jarod leaned in closer to her. He lips brushed hers. "A little longer. Please."

She let him kiss her before she pushed him up. "I can't." She got up and left him wondering what happen.

Parker went into the bathroom and splashed her face with some water. She stared at herself in the mirror while Lyle's voice played over in her head as she tried to fight it.

She pulled herself together and entered the bedroom again.

"Honey, come here."

"Jarod...!"

"Please."

She walked over to him. "What?"

"When are you going to tell me what happen to you?"

"What are you talking about?" She couldn't look him in the eye.

"Lyle and you."

"Nothing happen." She went to the closet and pulled out a pant suit.

"I know something happen."

"No it didn't!" She yelled.

Jarod got out of bed and went to her. He placed his hand on her shoulders. "If you won't talk to me then would you please talk to someone."

She glared at him before she headed back in the bathroom to get ready.
