The Dating Game

By: G. Barton

Mr. Parker knocks on his daughter's door.

"Just a minute." she yells while picking Catherine up from
her crib.

She opens the door to find her father standing there. "Daddy,
what are you doing here?" she asked confused.

"I come to see my granddaughter."

Parker lets him see her in her arms but is sure he is up to
something else.

"Can I hold her?"

Parker hands him Catherine.

"Angel, I was wondering. Are you ever going to tell me who
her father is?"

"I knew you were here for something other than wanting to
see Catherine."

"Thats not true. So, are you going to tell me?"

"No."

"Why?"

"Because I can't. You wouldn't approve of him."

"Fine. Will you at least get her a father?"

"She has a father. Daddy." Parker replies hasty.

"I mean she needs a father figure in her life. Someone like...."

"Someone like you. I don't think so. Besides she has Sydney."

"It is always Sydney."

"Well, what do expect daddy? He was always there for me when
you wouldn't make the time."

Mr. Parker is studying his granddaughter. He is looking for
something about her that would be different for her mother.
Something that would be similar to who her father might be.

Miss Parker could tell he was up to something more but she
couldn't figure it out. Then she says, "If we are through
here, I have things to do before bed."

"Oh, sure. I am sorry. I better go." He kisses Catherine on
the head and hands her back to her mother. "I will talk to
you later." he responds while headed for the door.

Parker shuts the door and spends time with her daughter
before going to bed.

The next day, Parker is working later than normal. A man
walks in her office with a suit and tie on.

"Are you Miss Parker?" he says unsure.

"Yes, can I help you?" She looks up and noticed a tall well
build man with sandy blonde hair and gorgeous blue eyes.

"Well, I was told to meet you here at 7:00."

"By who?" she replied hoping her father wasn't behind it.

"By your father. He told me he was going to talk to you about
it but I can tell by your face he hasn't. I'm sorry. I knew I
should have called him first."

"What did dear daddy plan for us this evening?" she asked
sarcastically.

"Well, I'm your date."

"My what?"

"Your date. He told me to take you out for dinner and get to
know you."

"Well, I'm sorry. I didn't catch the name." she said as loked
at his burging chest muscles showing through his white dress
shirt.

"It's Steve." he said smiling.

"Well, Steve. I hate to do this to you but I'm not dating."
Listening to him talk she knew he was very intellent young
man. He wasn't bad looking either but she already had the man
of her dreams. Her soul mate, Jarod.

"I know, Miss Parker." he said softly.

Parker was getting angry at her father for doing this to her.
'How can I tell him without telling him that I'm married.'
she thinks to herself.

"Steve, I don't think this is a good idea."

"I knew it. I always get turned down by the beautiful ones. I
don't understand. What is wrong with me?" he blurs out.

Parker looks at him and feels bad. She used to not care about
other peoples feeling but since Jarod came into her life all
that has changed. 'Damn Jarod!' she thinks to herself. 'Okay,
it is one little date. What could possibly go wrong?'

"Come on, Steve but this is it. I am not going out again."
Parker replies as she grabs her coat and heads out the door.

Steve smiles as he helps her to the car. "Did he tell you I
have a child?"

"Yes, he did. I believe a beautiful daughter." he replies.

"Did he happen to mention why he asked you to do this?"

"He told me you should go out more. He worries about you
being lonely."

"Well, Steve. I'm not lonely and I hate to tell you but he
is looking for a father for his granddaughter. He doesn't
realize that she has one."

"I don't blame him. Every child should have a father."

"That is true but she has a father. Do you understand what I
am saying?"

"I think so." He doesn't say anything else for a little while.

"Where are we going?" Parker asked as she watches the tree
go. She stares out the car window and wonders where Jarod is.

"I thought we could go to the Italian restuarant on Central Ave."

They arrive at the restuarant. Before she could ask anything
else, her phone rings.

"What!"

"Where are you? I have been waiting for you for an hour."
Jarod replies on the other end.

"Oh, Debbie. How is Catherine? I am sorry I didn't call
earlier to tell you I was going to be late."

"What?" Jarod asked. "Who's there, your father?"

Parker turns to Steve and says, "I need to take this in
private. Do you mind?"

"Oh, no. Go ahead. I will wait over here for you."

"Jarod, I am sorry. Where are you?"

"I'm at home waiting on you."

"You are not going to believe this but my father set me up on
a date. He is looking for Catherine a father."

"She has one." he said sternly.

"I know she does but he doesn't seem to understand that."

"Where are you? I am coming to get you."

"Jarod, don't make a scene."

"I won't. When I get there just follow my lead. Now, where
are you?"

"Before I answer that, what are you going to do?"

"I won't embarass you. I promise."

"Okay, I am at 1465 Central Ave. The Italian restuarant.
What will you be wearing?"

"Don't worry about that. You will know it is me when you see me."

Parker scared to go in now. Hangs up the phone. Steve is
waiting on her in the door way.

"I'm sorry about that. I told my sitter I won't be long."

"I understand."

They get a table in the corner. She notices Steve watching a
lady by the bar. Before she can say anything she looks up and
see Jarod coming toward her. He is wearing a dark brown suit
with a blue tie.

"Miss Parker, isn't it?"

"Yes," she said hastily

"It's me, Mr. Summers. You were in my business class, right."

"Yes, Mr. Summers. I haven't seen you in a while. What brings
you here?"

"Oh, I am here for business. I am only in town for the one
day." He turns to Steve and says, "I'm sorry. I haven't meet
you."

"Mr. Summers this is Steve."

"Steve is it." he interupted. "Do you mind if I borrow Miss
Parker for a moment? I would like for her to meet one of my
partners."

"No, go right a head."

"Are you sure?"

"No, I will be right here."

Parker could see he was still watching the lady at the bar.
"I will only be a few minutes."

"Take your time."

Parker gets up and walks with Jarod to a table. She sits down
and he sits beside her. "How can I get you home?" he says as
he kisses her neck.

"Well, I have an idea, but first I have missed you." she says
as she kisses him on the lips. "Did you get things taken care
of in Colorado?"

"I sure did. I have missed you." he whispers to her. He
moves closer to her and can feel her next to him. He kissed
her neck again and says, "I want you."

She responded, "Not as much as I want you." She kissed his
lips softly and slowly. She hasn't felt his skin next to her
in a while.

She pulls back and says, "We have to get out of here."

"I agree."

"This time you can follow my lead."

"What's the plan?"

"Let me talk to him first then you come over in about 10
minutes."

She gets up from Jarod's table and walks back to where Steve
is sitting.

"Steve, I don't think this is a good idea. Mr. Summers has
asked to show him around before he leaves and I noticed you
have been watching that lady over at the bar. Let's just call
it a night. I don't think either one of us wanted to go out.
What so you say?"

"That's fine with me. Have a good time."

Jarod walks over to the table. Parker says, "Are you ready?"

"Yes, I am."

They walk off and she noticed he is still sitting there.
"Jarod, wait. I have to do something first."

She walks over to the bar and says, "I noticed you have been
watching my date."

The lady quickly says, "No..I didn't mean to."

"No, it okay. He's my brother. Would you like me to introduce
you?"

The lady doesn't know what to say.

Parker says, "Come on."

She walks the lady over to where Steve is sitting.

"Steve, this is....I'm sorry I didn't get your name."

"Carol."

"Steve this is Carol. Carol this is my brother Steve."

Steve just looks at her confused, then smiled. "I will see
you later, little brother." Parker replies and walks off.

Jarod drives home. On the way, Parker sits right beside him
with her lips on his neck. She whispers in his ear, "I missed
you so much." Then she nibbles on the it. Jarod drives with
one hand and the other one his wife's leg.

"How is Catherine?" he asked.

"She's fine. She is growing. I think she missed you."

"Well, I missed her too but not as much as I missed you." he
responds softly.

Parker puts one hand on Jarod's chest and the other around
his neck. She kisses the back of his neck. He pulls into the
driveway. He stops the car and kisses her lips.

"I love you." he whispers in her ear.

"I love you more."

He opens the car door and they get out on the same side. She
follows him in the house. Debbie is sitting on the couch
watching TV.

"How was it tonight?" Parker asked as she lays her purse down
on the table.

"Fine." Debbie answered.

"Did she give you any problems?" Parker asked.

"No, she cried for a little while but then went to sleep."

"I'm going to see her." Jarod replies as he walks into bedroom.

"Do I need to take you home?" Parker asked.

"No, Daddy is coming to get me."

Jarod walks back in the living room carrying his daughter.
"Don't wake her!" Parker replied.

"I won't. I missed her. I had to hold her."

Parker goes for her purse to pay Debbie. "Here I got it."
Jarod replied as he grabbed his wallet.

He pulls out $30 and hands it to Debbie. "Here you go."

"That's too much." Debbie replied.

"No, take it. We were running late. Keep it."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes." replied Jarod.

It wasn't long Broots pulled up. Debbie headed for the door.

"Thanks." Parker replied as she walked out.

"Any time." Debbie replied back.

Jarod walked back in the bedroom and laid Catherine down in
her bed. Parker soon followed. Jarod watched his wife as she
changed clothes.

"What a day?" she said.

"Tell me about. I come home to find my wife is out on a date."

"That is not my fault. I couldn't get out of it."

"I know. Tell me who do you think was better looking me or him?"

"You, of course."

"You better say that."

"It's true. There is nobody else for me and you better
remember that. I don't want to hear of you out with someone
else." Parker replied as she walked over to him and put her
arms around his neck. She gave him a kiss. A kiss that blew
him away.

"You haven't kissed me like that in a while."

"Well, I have other talents you haven't seen in a while."

"I hope you are planning on showing them to me."

"I planning on showing you a lot of things, my dear husband."

She gave him another kiss. She pushed him down on the bed and
turned off the lamp beside the bed. He rolled her over and
laid on her body. He kissed her neck and slowly moved down to
other areas of her body. She rolled over on him and
unbuttoned his pants. Her fingers traced the hair on his
chest and up to his chin. She kissed him slowly with her
tongue. Then sat straight up on his lap. He sat up and with
her face in his hands he kissed her again. Then pulled her
down on him. She looked into his eyes and smiled. She took
her tongue and ran it down his neck and to his nipple. She
flicked his nipple with her tongue. Then kissed it before she
slipped it into her mouth. He laid there looking up at the
ceiling before he rolled her back over.

"My turn." he said as he kissed her breast. He ran his tongue
down her abdomen and to the top of her thigh. He slipped
inside of her. She let out a moan as she felt his body next
to hers. He kissed her and slowly made his way back to her
neck. With her hands on his arms she laid there not saying a
word or even a moan. When he came face to face with her, he
kissed her lip. With her tongue she licked her lips. He
caught her tongue with his and kissed her long and hard. Then
he rolled off of her with exhaustion. She rolled on her side
at looked at him. She laid her head on his shoulder and
didn't move the rest of the night.
