Birthplace: Washington, D.C.
Given Name: Peter Halsten Thorkelson

"Peter's father was a university professor and his job took him and his family to several cities across the US and at one time they lived in Germany. They settled in Connecticut and Peter spent his teen years mastering several musical instruments. He moved to New York's Greenwich Village in the early '60's, drawn by its burgeoning folk music scene. Sometime later he headed to Los Angeles where rock bands were forming in record numbers in the wake of the Beatles phenomenon. At the urging of fellow muscian and friend Stephen Stills, Peter attended an open audition for The Monkees, a new television show starring four young actor/musicians."

"After experimenting with several bands during the early'70s, Peter settled down in southern California and even taught high-school for a short period. The urge to perform kept him working in music. Peter has been involved with a number of bands including Release, Cottonmouth, and The Peter Tork Project. In the early'80s, he formed the group The New Monks and toured Japan. Peter has continued to tour and record steadily for much of the past decade. In the '90s, he has guest-starred on a few TV shows including Wings and Boy Meets World. In 1995, Peter made a cameo appearance along with Davy and Micky in The Brady Bunch Movie. 1995 also saw the release of Peter's first solo album, Stranger Things Have Happened."
