So here's my story …

Back in 1988, during my summer break from college, I worked late at night at Radio Marti, which is the U.S. Information Agency broadcast service to Cuba (I could barely speak Spanish, but I needed a job, I needed money, and I needed an interesting line on my resume). And that was when I fell in love with Susan Rook. She was the anchor for CNN News Overnight, a late-night/early-morning news report.

And, since I worked from 2 a.m. until 10 a.m. every day, I scheduled my day around Susan Rook. I came in early, got all my wire service printers running right, stacked up all of last night's carts (little tape cartridges with interviews and stuff on them), and got all my duties squared away, and then relaxed with a cup of coffee and Susan. She had such captivating, mischievous eyes, an incredibly sexy, husky voice, and a sly smile. I was smitten.

When I got back to college, I forced my friends to stay up late so they could get a glimpse of her. They agreed that she was a babe.

I've followed her career ever since, watching her shows whenever I could. When she launched TalkBack, I tried to get online as soon as I could.

I used to be a regular in the 10 p.m. TalkBack Live Forum on Compu$erve, but I had to give it up. For one thing, I was wasting entirely too much time and money, endlessly discussing the O.J. Simpson case. For another thing, Susan quit joining the forum. For a few weeks, she was joining the online forum after 11 p.m. - after all the debate and commentary was over. (Well, let's face it, there's no way to know for sure it was Susan who was typing to us. However, all of her answers to questions were always consistent with other things I had heard her say, or with things that I had learned from other people I know who worked at CNN. Plus, she always used the same Compu$erve I.D. number, which was the same one she used on the show). So I decided to give it up.

But that doesn't mean I don't recommend it. Hey, there are worse ways to kill an hour, you know?

With all the proliferation of "tribute" pages on the Web, I thought it only fitting that I should build one in honor of Susan Rook.

Now, what's your story? I want to hear from YOU!
