CPU Goes to 100% after downloading Windows XP Service Pack 3 ** see graphs and logfiles below   Note: graphs may take a few seconds to load Problem: I downloaded Windows XP Service Pack 3 and then all my problems started. My CPU started Maxing Out to 100% whenever I would go into my Gmail (google email) account or when I played any Youtube video. It NEVER did this before. Things I Did: 1. I uninstalled and re-installed both ZoneAlarm and Internet Explorer 7. No changes. 2. VSMON.exe (ZoneAlarm Internet Scanning Process) was showing up as a process that was hogging system resources. I disabled ZoneAlarm, but then IEXPLORE.exe started Maxing Out my CPU. 3. Called Microsoft Tech Support. - They made my swap file size larger, reset IE7, and deleted IE7 browser add-ons - They told me to run Windows Live Onecare System Scan, which I did. ** this eneded up solving my problem with Gmail Maxing Out and some Youtube Videos, but not all Youtube videos. 4. I did a post on Google Groups microsoft.public.windowsupdate and was told to Uninstall ZoneAlarm and look at AVG (anti-virus) and Cyberpatrol (internet Filtering Software). What I found out: Turns out that Ive had to uninstall ZoneAlarm, AVG, & Cyberpatrol to get things back to normal. I installed Comodo Firewall and Sypbot Search & Destroy TeaTimer and that seems OK so far. My Conclusions: It seems that WinXP SP3 doesnt play nicely with other 3rd Party programs and one has to find the ones that will coexist.
