Alaska's Alaskan Pioneers
SOMETHINGS OF NATURE NEVER CHANGE.

Each day, however, the page turns for an Alaskan Pioneer from "territorial" or early "statehood days" in Alaska-and they are gone!

In an effort to give voice to the Pioneers' stories from the "early days" in Alaska  this site is being provided.

This endeavor is open to all "Pioneers" with a story to tell.  Please Send me "YOUR" story via E-Mail. I will transfer your story to these pages.

Your privacy is very important.  Do not include any information which will invade your privacy.  Advise me  (in the E-mail)  of any privacy issues you may have.

My Third Grade Teacher.........
My Story is about my third grade teacher in a one room school house at Eska Alaska.  This teacher lived in Jonesville, Alaska that  was about a mile from Eska. Each morning during the school year she would walk on the railroad tracks the  mile from Jonesville to Eska early enough to get the stove going to heat the school room for when the students arrived.  In my recollection, she never missed a school day, the weather-snow, wind or cold, never kept her home.  The school room was always nice and warm for the beginning of classes.  This dedicated teacher introduced me to a dictionary, and phonics.  This dedicated teacher was Vannie (Jones-Courtney) Davenport.
