History Part 1
Pre-Rebublic Era - An unknown alien race builds Centerpoint Station. The station moves a group of planets from unknown areas to what will later be known as the Corellian System. The planets -- Corellia, Selonia, Drall, Talus and Tralus -- contain huge planetary repulsors used to move the planets into their orbits.
25,000 - The hyper-drive is invented and comes into use. Xim the Despot rules over a vast region of space before being overthrown by the group led by Kossak the Hutt. The Old Republic, which is the first galaxy-wide government, is formed. The Order of Jedi Knights begins, presumably on the planet Ossus. It is a period of galactic peace and expansion of the Republic.
*** Xim the Despot -- a legendary, pre-Old Republic tyrant, he grew to power by despoiling entire planets, collecting and selling slaves, stranding entire populations in deep space, and collecting enough armaments to support his goals. Xim ruled for about 30 Standard Time Parts (years). His despicable rule became the basis for a number of legends following his defeat at the Third Battle of Vontor. He was in the process of transporting a huge shipment to Dellalt when he was killed at Vontor, and his shipment became the basis for most of the legends of the Queen of Ranroon, the ship he was using to transport military materials to Dellalt. When his death was announced, the crew of the Queen scuttled the mission in the mountains of Dellalt, leaving the vaults Xim built empty and awaiting the arrival of a new despot to take Xim's place. Xim's insignia consisted of a bone-colored death's head with two sunbursts in its eye sockets. ***
*** Kossak --an infamous Hutt warrior and conqueror, Kossak used Vodran, Nikto, and Klatooinan forces to defeat Xim the Despot during the Third Battle of Vontor. ***
*** Ossus -- third planet in the Adega system, Ossus was home to the site of an ancient Jedi stronghold and training center thousands of years before the Freedon Nadd Uprisings and the Great Sith War. Following the Freedon Nadd Uprisings on Onderon, Jedi Master Arca planned to send the ancient Sith artifacts recovered from Freedon Nadd's ship there for examination, but Exar Kun was able to retrieve them first. In the chaos surrounding the Great Sith War, Aleema and Crado destroyed the Cron System, located near the Adega System. Ossus was caught in the wave of destruction radiating from the supernova. The Jedi attempted to transport the artifacts and lore from the libraries there, but were only able to take a fraction of the wealth stored there over the millennia. In an attempt to preserve a cache of lightsabers, Master Ood Bnar initiated his lifecycle change, becoming a gnarled old tree with the lightsabers entangled in his roots. He was nearly destroyed by the radiation from the Cron System. Over the ages, great cities grew out of the planet's rough, irradiated terrain. In modern times, the planet was nearly wiped out during the Clone Wars. The enemies of the Jedi Knights struck there, attempting to destroy the stronghold and root out the Jedi. Although the planet was devastated, the Jedi survived. Later, following the death of Emperor Palpatine's first clone on Byss, Luke Skywalker and Kam Solusar discover the planet's ancient Jedi connection, and are directed there by Master Vodo's holocron just before Sedriss executed Operation Shadow Hand. There find the Ysanna tribe and the ancient Jedi Master Ood Bnar. The planet's atmosphere is laced with electrical storms, probably resulting from the near-devastation it suffered during the Clone Wars. It orbits the Adegan stars in a figure-eight orbit.
25,000-20,000 - Many of the galaxy's first starship manufacturing companies are founded, including Alderaan Royal Engineers, Core Galaxy Systems, Corellian Engineering Corporation and Rendili StarDrive.
*** Alderaan Royal Engineers --- Manufacturers of ion drive systems used during the Clone Wars; they were also prominent starship manufacturer during most of the Old Republic. ARE was most famous for their luxury yachts, space stations, and exotic vessels. They were gradually muscled out of the spotlight by aggressive firms like Kuat Drive Yards and laid low during the New Order. ARE was also part of the secret rearmament program that was initiated on Alderaan, but never got the change after the first Death Star destroyed the planet Alderaan. ***
*** Core Galaxy Systems --- this corporation was one of the original shipwrights of the Old Republic, along with Alderaan Royal Engineers and Rendili StarDrive. 500 years before the Battle of Yavin, Kuat Drive Yards bought out CGS. The name Core Galaxy Systems was retired. ***
*** Corellian Engineering Corporation --- manufacturers of some of the galaxy's best starships and star drives. An ancient corporation, CEC has grown over the millennia to become one of the three largest producers of starships, along with Kuat Drive Yards and Sienar Fleet Systems. CEC has the advantage of being successful in the civilian market, as well as the simple fact that Corellians are incredibly adept in the areas of starship design. Their military designs are also quite successful. CEC became one of the Corporate Sector Authority's original Contributing Sponsors when the New Order allowed the Authority to gain control of the Corporate Sector. ***
*** Rendili StarDrive --- this starship manufacturing company can trace its origins back to the founding of the Old Republic. It had a mediocre existence until it was chosen to build the Victory-class Star Destroyer and Dreadnaught-class space cruiser. Since then, Rendili has spent much of its time designing new capital ship designs, but nothing as popular as these designs. Rendili was one of the original Signatory Sponsors of the Corporate Sector Authority. ***
