Lightsaber Construction

1. Snap the activation switch into place on the hilt, connect the connecters to the chosen circuit board.
2. Place shielding tape along the switch and the location of the superconductor.
3. Slip the gem stone into place to focus the beam that will become the blade.
4. Adjust, and place the continuous energy lens at the center, just above the gem stone.
5. On the end of the hilt, where the beam will form, screw on the high energy flux aperture.
6. Clip in energy cell, discharged, and connect the recharging socket.
7. Plug the lightsaber into the recharging station that will be used to charge the cell for the first time.

To construct a lightsaber from its components parts takes a minimum of one month. The type of crystal used to focus the energy from the power cell determines the harmonic resonance and lethality of the weapon. Jedi Knights use Adegan crystals almost exclusively, as they have done for millenia. The color of the blade is determined by the type  and color of crystals used.  Handles of sabers reflect on the maker. Corran Horn constructed a lightsaber from the handlebar on an old swoop. The Jedi of the Old Republic, however, constructed much more aesthetically pleasing, and complex, saber handles. A lightsaber can be anywhere from 1.0 to 1.5 meters in length, depending on the size and amount of crystals. Most Jedi build several lightsabers over a lifetime, each saber more powerful and well-balanced than the last. These improvements reflect the Jedi's increasing prowess in his use and understanding of the Force.

There are several different styles of On/Off switches which Jedi may put on their lightsabers.  Some different varieties follow:
1. One click activates, one click deactivates

2. One click activates, two clicks deactivates; this is so that the lightsaber does not accidentally shut off in combat.

3. The lightsaber's On/Off switch can be locked into the 'On' position and can't be turned off with one touch.

4. The wielder must use the Force to make a connection within the handle which allows energy to flow.
