Jedi Code

There is no Emotion, there is Peace.
There is no Ignorance, there is Knowledge.
There is no Passion, There is serenity.
There is no Death, there is the Force.
A Jedi never uses the force for attack, only for defense. The force can only be used by a Jedi to defend him/herself or others but never to attack. To attack is to give in to the dark side of the force, and once you tread down this path of destruction, anger and fear it will dominate your destiny forever.  A Jedi never kills any living thing unless it is in defense of themselves or others. All living things are equal in the force, and to destroy life is to tread along the dark side of the force. A Jedi does not fear anything, for fear is a merchant of the dark side. Fear makes a person doubt their abilities and clouds their judgment a Jedi cannot afford to have impaired judgment. A Jedi does not fear death, for a Jedi there is no death, there is the force. A Jedi uses knowledge for the good of others; a Jedi never uses knowledge to bring any personal gain of any sort.

In this lesson, we will look at the Jedi Code; study it, learn it, and try to understand it and incorporate it into our lives. Learning the Code is something all Jedi, even one who studies the Teepo way, should do, as it gives us good guidance. I recommend you memorize it so you can say it to yourself at times when you need it.  Now we will break it up into smaller sections.

First line: There is no Emotion; there is Peace. A Jedi must not have anger, fear, and aggression in mind; these are the ways of the Dark Side. Without these, a Jedi's connection to the Force is stronger and clearer. A Jedi must not let emotions cloud his judgment. A Jedi must be at Peace at all times, there is no room for unwanted emotions.

Second line: There is no Ignorance; there is Knowledge. A Jedi does not seek knowledge for his own personal gain, but for the good of others. A Jedi shows no ignorance, or his training and growth in the Force will be stunted. You seek knowledge through the Force so that you and others may understand better the teachings of the Jedi.

Third line: There is no Passion; there is Serenity. A Jedi does not desire money and power. In Yoda's words: 'Adventure. Ha! Excitement. Ha! A Jedi craves not these things!’ You must find Serenity within yourself, and use what you have to its fullest extent.

And finally, the last line: There is no Death; there is the Force. If a Jedi is true to the Force and has a righteous spirit, mind, and heart, then he need not fear Death. For the true Jedi, there is no Death; there is only oneness with the Force. Obi-Wan Kenobi, Yoda, and Anakin Skywalker all became one with the Force upon their Death. Follow the Code and it's teaching, and you too will be granted such gifts.
Now, after reading this lesson, you may think you have finished studying the Code. This is not true. We Jedi study, observe, and act it every day in our lives. You must not simply memorize the words and the lectures; you must actually act them out in your lives. Try to find Peace, seek Knowledge, give up your Passions, and feel the Force. No, do not try. Do.
