In Memory of Fergy
My miniature dachshund breeding program is dedicated in its entirity and in loving memory to Fergy, the most wonderful dachshund in the world. She was my reason for choosing the miniature dachshund breed for New Life Kennels.

I lost my beloved Fergy to meningitis (a rare disease in dogs) after a long, hard battle on June 16, 2003. Luckily, Fergy had nearly four wonderful, happy years of life before she became sick in April of 2003.

Fergy had such a huge spirit and love for life. I swear she was always smiling. She profoundly touched my heart and the hearts of many who met her in a way that not all dogs do. Because of Fergy, I am forever a miniature dachshund addict and want to share these incredibly loving, affectionate, happy, and humorous dogs with others.

Fergy will live in my heart forever. Her spirit still walks with me, chases frogs, and watches over the miniature dachshund puppies. Of this, I am sure.

FERGY'S POEM
Written June 16, 2003
The most wonderful dog I ever knew,
Came into my life from out of the blue.

Running down a highway with no collar on,
She greeted me with eyes that could do no wrong.

She said, "Hi I'm Fergy," as she licked my face.
Full of life, happiness, and very distinct grace.

Fergy's whole life was one big smile.
Everyone fell in love with her after just a short while.

Her spirit was infectious to all that she met.
She was the type of dog people could never forget.

I learned so much from her short stay with me.
She taught me how wonderful dachshunds could be.

She was wonderful with dogs, big and small,
Children and strangers, she loved them all.

She had the most loving and radiant heart.
Her "I'm in love with you!" look would tear you apart.

Fergy loved the outdoors. Quite the explorer was she.
She hunted down varmints and frogs for me.

She once found herself stuck up under the deck.
After trying real hard to ring a cat's neck.

I learned that V-8 juice helps with skunk smell,
After she ran one under the barn and gave it hell.

'Fergy-Meister, the Meister Dog" was so much fun.
She was the happiest little dog under the sun.

I had almost three years with this precious little dog.
Before she became ill and her life began to fog.

Many doctor visits and all kinds of medicine.
Couldn't fix my Fergy and put her back together again.

I have many dogs, and I will have many more.
But no other dog will I this much adore.

Fergy was truly the most wonderful dog I ever knew,
My baby who had to leave me right out of the blue.

I will love you forever, Fergy... Mommy (Tonya)
