This story is dedicated to the memory of Aaliyah Dana Haughton (1/16/79- 8/25/01) You will live on in our hearts and minds. Even though you are no longer here in body, you will always be here in spirit.

August 19, 2001 - Summerslam

"Jeff Hardy and Rob Van Dam fighting to reach the top of the ladder and that Hardcore Title." JR said.

RVD kicked Jeff Hardy off the ladder and RVD grabbed the Hardcore Title and won the match. "Your winner and NEW WWF Hardcore Champion, Rob Van Dam." The ring announcer said as Jeff Hardy left the ring and went backstage.

Backstage...

Jeff's brother Matt met him at the entryway as he came backstage. Matt patted him on the back and said "You've got a special visitor" "Who?" Jeff asked, looking suspicious. Matt laughed 'All I'm saying is that she is waiting in your dressing room." "Matt, it's not another groupie is it?" Jeff asked. Matt laughed and opened the door. "You tell me." He said as Jeff went in.

"Hey boo." The female said. "Aaliyah" Jeff said excitedly, she laughed and jumped into Jeff's arms as Matt walked away smiling. "Where have you been girl?" Jeff asked. "Hawaii. I was filming the video for your song there." Aaliyah said. "My song?" Jeff asked. "More Than A Woman" Aaliyah said bluntly. Jeff sat down and smiled.

After a few minutes of silence, Jeff started to pack his stuff. "Whatcha doin' boo?" Aaliyah asked. "Packin' my stuff, I'm done for the night." Jeff replied. "Let's go somewhere then." Aaliyah said. Jeff smiled "Clubbin' ?" Jeff asked "Clubbin' " Aaliyah replied in agreement.

Jeff Hardy and Aaliyah Haughton walked out of Jeff's dressing room with their arms around each other. " 'Liyah" Amy Dumas said as she rushed over and hugged Aaliyah. "Where you guys headed?" Amy asked. "Out to a club, you wanna come?" Aaliyah asked. "Sure, just let me get on my go-go boots and a cocktail dress and I'll be ready to go." All three started laughing.

Jeff then turned to Aaliyah. "So how are you and Damon?" Damon Dash was Aaliyah's boyfriend. "We are very cool, I love him, he loves me, it's a whole love thing." Aaliyah replied as Amy rejoined them.

"Isn't Matt coming?" Amy asked. "Nah, Matt is staying until the end of the show." Jeff said. Jeff, Amy and Aaliyah then piled into a limo and drove off.

"So are you finally taking a break babygirl?" Jeff asked. "Nope, I'm going to Miami this week to film Rock Da Boat." Aaliyah replied. "Didn't you just finish More Than A Woman?" Jeff asked. "Yeah, I did." Aaliyah said with a smile.

Jeff sat back and sighed. "I swear this heavy workload is going to kill you one day."

At the nightclub...

"We need a resolution" blasted all throughout the club as Aaliyah, Jeff Hardy and Amy Dumas were tearing up the dance floor. Aaliyah fell into Jeff and they started laughing, they came off the dance floor laughing up a storm. "Kinda reminds me of when we were going out." Jeff said.

Aaliyah and Amy sat down at a table and Jeff sat on the other side of them. "I don't know why you two split up." Amy said "It was amicable, she had her music and I had the WWF...." Jeff said. Aaliyah cut him off "...and you know damn well that right now if I wasn't so in love with Damon, I would still be with Jeff." Jeff smiled. "Yeah, but you have to admit, when it was happening, we made one hell of a couple."

Aaliyah smiled and said "Yeah, we did make a good couple." "Third wheel leaving to dance." Amy said as she got up and headed back to the dance floor.

Later that night...

The limo pulled up to the hotel that Jeff and Amy were staying at. "So I'll see you next week?" Jeff asked Aaliyah as Amy went in. "Yeah, after the video shoot." Aaliyah said. Jeff and Aaliyah just stood there for a second staring at each other. Aaliyah moved in and kissed Jeff. 'Bye. I love you." Aaliyah said as she got back in her limo and pulled away.

Jeff then went up to Amy who was watching from the hotel door. Amy smiled. "It looks like the magic is still there." Amy said. Jeff smiled. 'Maybe' He said as the two friends entered the hotel.

August 25, 2001 - Abaco Island, The Bahamas.

"Bye Fatima, I love you." Aaliyah yelled to her choreographer, as Fatima Robinson grabbed a camera and snapped a picture of Aaliyah and her friends in a boat going back to the island and to the airport.

Anthony Dodd, Aaliyah's hairstylist spoke up, "So you going to see Damon or Jeff?" Everyone laughed, including Aaliyah. "Jeff wants to meet Damon, so I'm going to get Damon, then meet Jeff in New York." Aaliyah said as the boat arrived at the island where the airport was.

The plane was being loaded when Aaliyah overheard an argument between Anthony Dodd and the pilot Luis Morales. "The plane is too heavy, we need to leave some of this stuff behind." Dodd yelled. "I am not making another flight back to this hell hole, either all of this stuff goes or none of it does." Morales shot back.

Dodd angrily walked away angry, he bumped into Aaliyah. "Get on the plane, we are going home." Dodd said. Aaliyah and the other seven people who were with her got on the plane, soon followed by pilot Luis Morales.

As soon as the plane started up Aaliyah knew something was wrong. The pilot sped the plane down the runway. "Something's wrong." Aaliyah said, but it was too late. The plane crashed 200 ft. from the end of the runway, killing everyone on board.

Cameron, NC - That night

Jeff Hardy lay sound asleep in his bed when the phone rang. It was 1:30 am when Jeff picked up the phone. "This better be important." Jeff replied, but all he heard on the other end was someone sobbing.

"Hello?" Jeff said, he recognized the sobs. "Rashad?" Jeff said, he knew it was Aaliyah's younger brother Rashad. "Jeff..." Rashad said. "Rashad, what's going on?" Jeff asked. "...th-th-there's been an accident." Rashad said, still sobbing.

"What kind of accident?" Jeff asked. 'There's been a plane crash, Aaliyah's dead." Rashad blurted out. "What?" Jeff said. "Aaliyah's dead, she's dead." Rashad said as he broke down and hung up the phone.

Jeff hung up, and walked out of his room and got into his car. He drove one hour to Sanford, NC. Jeff knocked on the door of the house he stopped at. A groggy, Amy Dumas answered the door. "Jeff, it's three in the morning." Amy said. Jeff then broke down and started to cry.

"Jeff, what's wrong?" Amy asked. "She's gone." Jeff said, between sobs. "Who?' Amy asked as she leaned down to hug Jeff in her arms. "Aaliyah, she's dead, she was in a plane crash." Jeff said, he then broke down in tears. Amy clicked on CNN.

"Ladies and gentlemen, we have breaking news to report to you. R&B singer Aaliyah has been killed in a plane crash in the Bahamas, a Cessna 342 crashed off Abaco Island in the Bahamas killing everyone on board." Amy then turned off the TV and consoled Jeff as she let her own tears fall.

August 31, 2001 - New York City

The church was full of mourners, most were friends and family, and some of R&B's finest had turned out for the funeral of Aaliyah. Aaliyah's brother Rashad had asked Jeff to speak at the funeral, Jeff accepted. Jeff approached the podium

"What can be said about Aaliyah that hasn't already been said..." Jeff said, trying to hold back the tears "...she was the living embodiment of a princess and the closest thing to an angel that we have ever seen. Aaliyah was a former flame of mine and an eternal friend..." Jeff could barely hold in the tears

"...my last memory of Aaliyah was last Sunday, she surprised me by showing up at the Pay Per View event I was participating in, that night we went out to a club..." Jeff smiled at the memory "...around 1am that night we were out on the dance floor when 'More Than A Woman' come on, she told me that she wrote that song for me..." Jeff said, taking a breath "...the last time I saw her was when her limo was pulling away after dropping me off at the hotel..." Jeff started to let the tears fall "... she told me she loved me and would see me after the video shoot..." Jeff started sobbing "...you were a big part of my life Aaliyah. I'll miss you babygirl." Jeff finished, as he came off stage and Rashad hugged him.

An hour later...

Aaliyah's casket was loaded into a horse drawn carriage and taken to her final resting place, Jeff watched in tears and in silence as 22 white doves were released, each signifying a year in Aaliyah's life.

Jan 14, 2002 - Cameron, NC

Jeff was sound asleep in his bed when he started to have a dream. He had a vision of an angel coming to visit him.

"Wake up Jeff." She said. Jeff started to stir and awaken. Jeff saw the angel that had come to visit him. "Aaliyah." Jeff said. "That's right boo, its me." Aaliyah replied. Jeff started to cry. "I know those tears ain't for me." Aaliyah replied sarcastically. Jeff smiled, Aaliyah always knew how to make him smile.

"So, how have you been?" Jeff asked, drying his tears. "Jeff, I've never been this happy ever, you are going to love heaven." Aaliyah said as she sat on Jeff's bed and she stopped glowing. "Sorry about the glow, they make us do that." Jeff started laughing.

"I see, you've been screwing up in the ring." Aaliyah said. "Yeah, I've been down since you left this world." Jeff replied. "Boy, you need to stop crying over me. I'm happy, I'm safe, It was my time to go." Aaliyah said. Jeff and Aaliyah hugged.

"I've gotta go..." Aaliyah said "...I've got a concert with Jim Morrison to do, plus I'm getting fitted for my wings." Aaliyah said as she stood up. Jeff got a somber look on his face "Jeff..." Aaliyah said as she held his head in her hands '... a person is not truly gone until the memories of them are forgotten. Just remember the good times and I'll never be gone..." Aaliyah said. She started to leave, but turned back "...one more thing, watch TRL tomorrow, they are premiering 'More Than A Woman' ." Aaliyah then disappeared.

Jeff then woke up from his dream.

The next day...

Jeff was sitting on his couch watching TRL

"And now the World Premier of ' More Than A Woman' by the late Aaliyah." Carson Daly said.

When the video ended, something flashed across Jeff's screen. "Dedicated to Jeff Hardy, he knows why." Jeff smiled.
