Twist of Fate
PART EIGHT OF "GIRLFRIEND"Matt knew it was
extremely hard to piss his girlfriend off. So when someone did
piss her off, all hell broke lose. She still wanted to go back
and kick Trish's ass while Matt took her from his shoulers, laid
her out on the bed and restrained her by sitting on top of her.
"Let me go! I can't believe the audacity of that
bitch!"
"Amy! Listen to yourself, calm down! Have you ever seen her
like this, Jeff?" Matt laughed.
"No, this is a first for me." Jeff carelessly said.
"It's kind of turning me on." Matt smiled at Amy.
Amy pushed him off her to the floor when she noticed that sad
look on Jeff's face. She calmed down, walked over to him and
stood beside him as he looked out the window into the lit up
city.
"You alright, man?
Jeff turned around and looked down at Amy for awhile. He sighed
and put his arm around his sister.
"Don't worry about it, Lita. I just really dig Trish. I want
this to last, I really do. Where is it written that a guy and a
girl can't be friends? Everyone knows how close you and me
are."
"It will last, man. I guess jealousy is one of Trish's
insecurities. Maybe all this shit is what will fix it."
"I just had so much faith in her. We just click so well
together, Amy. She's like the perfect fit. I thought it could be
real for once, you know."
"Jeff, you obviously want to be with Trish a lot. Just tell
her what you're telling me, bro. Then, maybe she'll see the error
of her ways and we can drop this bullshit."
"Yeah, you know how I hate bullshit." Jeff said before
Amy laughed.
"To tell you the truth, Jeff, I really am sorry. You know,
how I get when I'm pissed off, which is very rare. I let my anger
get the best of me. I'll go apologize to her right now if you
want."
**********
Amy walked out of the hotel room and towards the elevator
grumbling the whole way. Jeff had told her not to mess with Trish
anymore that night, but something inside of her just wouldn’t
let her leave it alone. Squaring her shoulders and setting her
jaw, she walked off the elevator and stalked over to Trish’s
room.
Inside, Trish sat at the window, her view of the street and the
hustle and bustle going on, even at the late hour. Her mind
thought back to what had happened earlier in her hotel room. How
could have jealously gotten the best of her, how could she have
let that happen? She sighed and frowned as she saw a young women
pushing through all the women on the street, not caring if they
fell or if she knocked something out their hands. In an instant,
Trish knew that was symbolic of the way she had treated Amy. Amy
had presented someone that had gotten in her way so to speak,
someone who stole Jeff’s time away from her. Instead of
understanding that, she has lashed out, embarrassing herself and
Jeff. She groaned as she heard someone knock at her door, seeing
Amy standing there through the peephole, she felt the jealously
rise back up in her throat even though she had promised herself
this wouldn’t happen again.
“What do you want?” Trish asked flinging the door open
and placing her hand on her hip.
“To talk to you Trish, to really talk to you. Do you mind if
I come in?”
“It’s a free country.” Trish said sneering at the
other woman.
Amy rolled her eyes as she walked past her into the hotel room.
It really amazed her how someone who always appeared so confident
in public could have such low self-esteem in private.
“Ya know this whole cocky, arrogant, bitchy side only works
in the ring, Trish, you aren’t getting anywhere with me.”
Amy said as she looked at the blonde across the room.
“What the hell is that supposed to mean? I thought you came
here to talk, so talk.” Trish said crossing her arms over
her chest.
“Look, if you would just be the real Trish, the one without
the attitude, the one without the perfect silicone body, the one
without the make-up, and definitely the one without the jealously
complex that you seem to have gotten lately, Jeff would be all
over you.”
“Who are you talking to about silicone Amy? Don’t act
holier than thou Ms. Breast Implants.” Trish said motioning
towards Amy’s chest.
“Look, I don’t wanna argue with you anymore, alright?”
Trish looked over at the other woman. They were close before all
this had happened, before Jeff had come into the picture. She had
promised herself she wouldn’t be mean, even if it killed
her. Trish took a deep breath before flopping down on the bed.
“Amy, I am sorry. Please believe that. I don’t know
what’s come over me. It’s like since me and Jeff
started seeing one another I’ve gotten jealous over
everything. All the little insecurities I had as a kid are coming
back to me. It’s as if I’m no longer pretty enough,
skinny enough, smart enough, interesting enough. It’s jut
like I’m not enough for him. To me, he deserves so much
more.” Trish said, tears pooling in her eyes.
Looking over at the blonde sitting on the bed, Amy noticed what
looked like a teenager needing approval about glasses or braces.
She just looked so insecure within herself that Amy’s heart
melted.
“I’m sorry too girl. Let me give it to you straight
though. Until you believe in who you are, no one else will
believe in you and no one will love you until you love yourself.
As long as you are yourself, Jeff won’t know what hit him.
He will be blinded by the beauty in front of him and his heart
will automatically be in your hands. You just gotta believe it
that.” Amy said hugging the younger woman.
“I know, he liked me before this, now maybe he can love me.
Then maybe you and I could be friends again.” She said
sniffling a bit as they hugged and began to laugh at the
absurdity of the situation.
********
Amy and Trish walked to Jeff's hotel room hand-in-hand. Their
friendship was stronger than ever but Trish had to fix one more
thing that she had screwed up. She looked at the door and
butterflies flew into her stomach.
"I'm scared." Trish said.
"I would be too but just tell him that you and I made up.
Then, he'll let you in. We had a conversation earlier about you.
He won't slam the door in your face. He knows better. Just
remember what I said, be yourself."
"Okay. Thanks, Amy." Trish gave her a hug.
"No problem. We'll talk in the morning. I know Matt's
wondering where I am so let me go." Amy walked off to her
and Matt's room.
Trish sighed, took a deep breath and knocked on Jeff's door. She
hoped he wasn't asleep. She looked up as Jeff opened the door. He
had on a v-neck t-shirt and some plaid boxers. He looked at her
for a minute.
"Come in. I was just thinking about you." Jeff said.
"Thanks." Trish said as she walked in into the dim-lit
room and sat down on the bed. Jeff sat next to her.
"Haven't you hurt and embarassed me enough? You've sure as
hell rubbed it in enough." Jeff said
"Jeff, I'm not here to make you feel worse. Look, I'm sorry,
okay? Everything that I sad to criticize your relationship with
Amy, I'm sorry. Jealous and envy just...consumed my mind. Looking
back, I would take back every word. I really would. If an apology
isn't enough, I don't what else to say to you."
"You owe an apology to Amy too."
"I'm aware of that, Jeff. I did apologize to Amy. We talked
and it's all good now. Amy and I are cool. It's you and me I'm
worried about now."
"Trish, you know...hell, you have known that Amy and I are
real close. You know she adores Matt. You know she has a man. You
know they'll never break up so I just don't undertand. What would
provoke you to think that Amy would wanna be more than just a
friend to me?"
"I care about you, Jeff! I always have. From the moment I
started working for the WWF, I thought you were the finest dude
on Earth. When you were with Beth, I had some nerve thinking
about how things would be if I was your girl. Now that I am, I'm
scared to lose you. I was so scared that I started to think that
Amy could take you away from me. I wanted this to last."
"I want it to last too, honey. If you really wanna be with
me, tell me the truth like you just did. Those were the words I
wanted to hear all along." Jeff said as he looked into
Trish's eyes.
"Apology accepted?" Trish asked before she stopped
crying.
"Un-huh." Jeff nodded while he pulled Trish into his
arms and romantically kissed her with his mind set on exploring
her mouth with all his expertise.
**The Next Morning**
Jeff woke up feeling very light headed. He didn't even know where
he was. He looked around and saw Trish lying next to him watching
television. That's when he realized he was wearing nothing but
his boxers. He looked on the floor and saw his clothes scattered
all across the room.
"Trish?"
"Oh, my baby is awake." Trish kissed him on the lips.
"Did we..."
"Uh-huh." Trish giggled as she laid across Jeff's
chest.
"It must have been great because I can't remember a
thing."
"Oh, yeah. The greatest."
"Man, it's 11:16, we better put some clothes on and get out
of here."
"Yeah, gotta go work out and eat breakfast and get ready for
the show. You sound exhausted."
"I am for some reason."
Trish laughed out loud and kissed Jeff again. She wanted to stay
here with him but she knew what had to be done. She got off Jeff
and put some sweat pants and the only t-shirt she could find on
the floor, which was a black t-shirt of Lita.
"My arch enemy." Trish said as she slipped on the
shirt.
Jeff laughed, grabbed Trish and started tickling her. They both
knew at that moment that what they had together was very rare and
good. They knew that had faced a fair share of trails &
tribulations but now, everything was gonna be alright. Everything
was going to be just fine.
The End.
