About Team Homie

Team Homie was born one fateful night during happy hour, with an idea and just a few beers…

It all began with a tremendous desire to play football, a few friends and a rumor of a Women's Flag Football tournament in Key West. Traci "Homie" Brownlee, Sherry Messler and "Big Sexy" herself, Kimmie Smith were playing "practice dummies" for another teams football practice. They had so much fun they decided they wanted to play on a team also but no other team could seem to find room for them, some what similar to the "last kid picked for kickball" syndrome. Homie decided to have a meeting with her pal Stephanie Callahan (an actual athlete) and told Stephie about this little football dream of hers. They made plans right on through happy hour and into the night, with Homie's recruiting and organization and Steph's leadership and skills they would make a great football team. They wanted to organize the finest athletes in the world…they weren't available…so they picked their next 10 friends that walked in the bar and Team Homie was born!

They managed to get just enough people to go to the Key West tournament (the Kelly McGillis Invitational) and to everyone's surprise, including theirs, won the championship in their division.

Team Homie's roster has changed a bit over the past year…but the core of the team remains intact, original team members include Bea Hawthorn (team photo hog and incredibly talented to boot), Christina Kenny (best foot in the league and a pretty good catch for a soccer player), Sherry Messler (the snapper), Kimmie Smith (Big Sexy, need I say more?!?), Traci "Homie" Brownlee and of course Stephanie Callahan, our team captain (who can play all of the positions on the team, and sometimes does!).

The team just keeps getting better and better with the addition of some new players, Selina "you can't get past me" Perez, Lori "I got your flag" Lyu, Tara Schwartz and out secret weapon Misty "you can’t catch me" McDevitt just to name a few.
