BOULES also known as PETANQUE

Ever walked by the park in a French town and see a group of people playing BOULES?  It is a game played by two people or two teams.  Single players have 3-4 boules each.  Players in teams have three boules for teams of 2 and two boules for teams of three.

BEGIN:  The first player draws a circle to stand in and throws the small ball called the JACK 5-10 meters (18-30 ft).  Keeping their feet inside the circle they throw their first BOULEl as close to the JACK as possible.

2nd PLAYER: A player from the second team steps into the circle and throws their first BOULE closer to the jack or tries to knock the first BOULE away.

3rd PLAYER will be on the team that is NOT the closest to the JACK.  they will keep throwing until they have succeeded in getting a BOULE closer to the JACK than the other team.  Then it is the other teams turn.

END.  When all the BOULES are thrown the score is added up.  The team with the BOULE closest to the JACK gets one point for each boule which is closer to the JACK than the other teams best BOULE.  Then another game begins.  The first team to get 13 points wins.
