ESCARGOT HOP-SCOTCH

Use chalk to draw a large snail shell on an outdoor blacktop surface.  Mark off squares all along the spiral of the snail shell.  #1 should be on the outermost square and continue as the squares become smaller towards the center of the spiral, an unnumbered circle.  To play, each player announces which foot they will hop on throughout the entire game.  The first player hops to the center of the snail, hopping only once in each space.  If they land on a line, the turn is over.  while the player is in the center of the snail, they may rest on both feet.  Then the player turns around and exits the snale by hopping only once in each space.  Same player repeats what has just been done.  If successful they may write their initials in one space.  This becomes their "house" (A house is a rest spot for its owner, but if another player enters the house, that player loses their turn.)  Then the next player begins a turn.  Play continues in this manner.  The game ends when it is impossible for any player to hop into the center space or all of the spaces have been initialed.  The player who has the most houses wins the game.
