MOROCCAN KHAMSAS

Khamsas are good luck charms in Morocco.  The word means “five” and refers to the five fingers on the hand.  An open hand keeps bad things away.  A closed fingered hand brings good luck.
Trace your hand and wrist on a piece of stiff paper and cut it out.  Draw shapes and designs on other papers and cut them out.  Glue the colored shapes onto the khamsa and add more color with other materials like sequins, feathers, or paint.  Allow to dry.
Mount the khamsa on a contrasting colored paper and use it to decorate your room.  Good luck wishes may be written on them.  Smaller versions may be made to wear as necklaces.
