Neon Genesis Evangelion, more commonly known as NGE or Eva, is a rather complex anime. Unlike many animes that can be viewed on television this is not a "happy-happy" kind of plot where everything will be right in the world. In fact, this anime is really quite depressing in many aspects. All the characters are either clinically depressed or are hiding their true selves behind a boisterous front. Also, this anime relies heavily on biblical references that can be hard to catch. However, despite these complexities, or maybe because of them, this anime is a masterpiece. It has been hailed as the best anime ever created, and it's easy to see why. The characters are masterfully developed, the initial plot is interesting, the dialogue is always right on task, and the animation would make any OAV shrink away in shame.
All in all, Neon Genesis Evangelion has everything going for it, and it would be a shame to miss out on this work of art. |
