DANIEL AT THE MOVIES

THE PERFECT STORM IS A TRAGEDY

Another summer blockbuster dud!  Full of action, characters we could care less about and a storm no more intense than the rain I drove through last week.  WORST LINE: Clooney:(to the tidal wave)Come on, you bitch!  Clever.  The sad thing?  Someone made a lot of money from this elementary script that was more suited for television.

WHAT LIES BENEATH IS OLD NEWS

What Lies Beneath is a summary of some of the best horror films but the film fails to hold an identity of its own.  It's starts off by giving us a variety of flavors from "Rear Window" as well as Hitchcock's "Psycho" but then it turns into more of a "Friday the 13th".  The movie does have a few scares but we've seen this old predictable formula too many times.

Terry's Top Ten Favorite Films

1. THE EXORCIST- Truly one of the most chilling films ever.  Plan on losing sleep after this one.

2. RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK- This is what storytelling is all about.  Great characters in a perfect mix of adventure and romance.

3  THE SHINING- Watching Jack slowly lose it is a treasure.  His conversation with Lloyd the bartender is amazing.

4.  ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT- I could watch this every day.

5.  REAR WINDOW- Hitchcock and Stewart.  What else can you say?

6.  DOG DAY AFTERNOON- Pacino in one of his finest.

7.  SCHINDLER'S LIST- Spielberg's masterpiece.  Three hours go by in a hurry.

8.  BROADCAST NEWS- James L. Brooks directs this realistic film about a news network.  Albert Brooks steals the show.

9.  DR. STRANGELOVE- Dark twisted fun from Kubrick.  Seller's best, easily.

10. FRIDAY- Hands down, the best comedy of all time.
