Bishop Verot wins on
kicks: Much like its
semifinal, the Fort Myers Bishop Verot soccer team outlasted its opponent,
claiming the state title with a 4-3 (6-5 on penalty kicks) win against
Plantation American Heritage in the Class 1A state final.
Goalkeeper Ross Lane made
another penalty kick save to begin the deciding leg of the game, then dived to
his left as American Heritage's Mario Moya pushed the final attempt wide.
In between, six of the eight
Vikings were successful.
