Tim's Scrapbook

Jesus Christ changed my life!

My new personal Web site is alum.mit.edu/www/tbc/. It includes my latest writing and information about my hacks -- the things I do with technology for fun.

Welcome to my scrapbook.

Tim's Scrapbook Newsletter

Web newsletters are so twentieth century. Now I blog (and how).

Visit my new Web site for bumper stickers.

My guestbook is where you can have your own say about my scrapbook.

Next, allow me to introduce my original content.

My Original Contributions

Christianity

Christmas

I wanted to share a little holiday cheer, so I typed in the lyrics for a collection of Christmas carols. It's the biggest draw for my entire scrapbook.

Grace Before Meals (53Kb)

I collect prayers said before meals, including prayers suitable for children.

Bedtime Prayers

Please contribute to my collection of bedtime prayers, especially if you have one suitable for children.

Anglican Resources

I practice my Christian faith in the Episcopal Church, and I have produced a few resources for my denomination. I maintain a copy of the 1979 Book of Common Prayer and an Unofficial Web for The Anglican Digest. I also took notes at the 1994 Anglican Conference.

Promise Keepers

Information about the phenomenal movement (of God, I believe). Includes links and my own impressions.

Writing

My publications to date include a letter to an agnostic friend; "Ground Rush," an essay about God's relationship to time, Biblical end times (eschatology), and parachutes;  "Choices," a short story about a man, his lover, his wife, and Dial soap; a summary of Mere Christianity; "Terror Beneath the Earth: My First Caving Adventure"; reflections on a spiritual retreat; and a few letters to the editor of my local newspaper on the subjects of abortion, who should care for the poor, and Christians seeking a democratic voice.

Book Reviews

One of my most rewarding hobbies is reading. I have comments about several books that I have read, including The Crown and the Fire: Meditations on the Cross and the Life of the Spirit, by Tom Wright; Whose Body?, by Dorothy L. Sayers; The HP Way, by David Packard; "Fundamentalism" and the Word of God, by J.I. Packer; The Tribute, by Dennis Rainey; Celebration of Discipline, by Richard J. Foster; Surprised by Joy, by C.S. Lewis; The Devaluing of America, by William Bennett; and First Things First, by Stephen Covey.

Favorite Web Sites

This list tells you a little more about what interests me.

Last, here's a little about me.

Personal Info

(Updated 11/27/99). I have found a passion: motorcycles. In the summer of 1997 I learned to ride a motorcycle, bought one (1982 Suzuki GS750T), put about 1,000 miles on it practicing, drove it to the Promise Keepers Stand in the Gap in Washington, D.C. on the Christian Motorcyclists Association's Ride to the Gap, and drove it home again. 4,300 miles, 13 states, 12 days. Unfortunately, my Suzuki is broken. It lasted a year practically to the day. It looks like oil wasn't getting to one of the cylinders. The camshaft and bearing race are ruined. The shop quoted a repair fee that exceeded what I paid for the bike. I tracked down an engine to drop in and get the bike back on the road. It's sitting in my garage on the original palette. I hope to get the bike running before Spring.

Some people have asked, so I put a picture of my GS750T (84Kb) and a larger version of the same picture (344Kb) on the Web.

a picture of me on a bad day a clip to me singing on a bad day. :-) (64Kb)
a picture of me on a good day a clip of me singing on a good day. :-) (164Kb)
