79 YEARS

A Brief History

In the Summer of 1996 Ben Linde, Micah Phillips, Philip Philips, and Ross Faith conversed over the phone about forming a Rock & Roll band. The four inspired teens lugged their equiptment to the Philips family's house to jam on a few songs together. Little did they know that the simple act of garage band jamming would blossom into one of Tulsa's hippest Rock acts to come along.

After a few months the band decided to start writting their own music. Ross and Ben combined their fluent muscial styles to come up with the original, catchy sound they play today. With Philip's poppy bass lines and Micah's energetic drumming, the band was on their way to playing gigs. The only thing they lacked at the time was a memorable name. Putting their illuminous heads together and in a cumulation of Alpha waves and Shmirnof they finaly reached the perfect title: 79 years! (hmm okay maybe more shmirnof then alpha waves this time.) After several months of hard work and preparation, the band felt like they were ready to play in front of a live audiance. An encounter with members of the band "Good" persuaded Ben to call up Eclipse, a well known club that offers a chance for new bands to spread their name through out Tulsa. The bands first show was booked on April 11, 1997, and it was a success. Many of the band's friends showed, as well as many other unknown people who came to see them. Everything was going well, until lead guitarist, Ross Faith, decided to leave the band.

Since the winter of 1997, 79 Years has been playing as a three member band. But such has not effected the quality of the band . The remaining three have grown together and stuck it out until around August of 1998. Derek James, the large breasted individual located atop this page, joined the band as a rhythm guitarist/background vocalist. They band has since recorded several songs and have released a five song disc which can be purchased through e-mail to 79years@oocities.com. Thus is the masterpeice that is 79 years.
