The Piper Super
Cub L-18C / L-21B
This time we present another workhorse of our military aviation
and one of the most famous aircraft of all times: the Piper Cub/Super Cub.F.A.P.
received two types : the L-18C with the Continental engine, and the L-21B
with the more powerful Lycoming engine.
The first examples were received in 1952, and the last ones were
retired in the seventies.Many were
L-18C 3206 c/n 18-1295 in the early fifties,
with the then current colour scheme : matt light grey with dark colour
cheat line (blue and red examples known) (EMFA/CAVFA)
L-21B 3218 c/n 18-2555 incorporated in August 1955. Photo taken
at Tancos probably in the late fifties or early sixties. Note khaki colour,
and green JU-52 behind with the greyhound insignia of B.A.3 - Tancos (this
time in red) (EMFA/CAVFA)
L-18C 3208 c/n 18-297 seen at Lisbon Airport late 1961. Overall
matt light grey with dark blue cheatline (L.Tavares)
L-21B 3227 c/n unknown, seeen at Sintra (B.A.1) at July 4, 1976
. This colour scheme was the last one used (L.Tavares)
