2. James McEvers,Jr. was born Sept. 1, 1755 Hillsdale,Clmb,New York. He Married Maria Louisa HOWARD, born 20 Mar 1764 in ,Duchess,New York, married Dec. 2, 1779 in Claverack, New York. James died Jan. 24, 1829 at his residence in Glasgow, Scott, Illinois. Maria Louisa died Nov. 29 1847 in Glasgow, Scott Co., Illinois and is buried in the Pioneer Burying,Ground.

Note: He served in Capt. Thomas Prichard's Company of the Third Massachusetts Regiment, commanded by Col. John Greation. His name was on muster roles dated April, 1782 and May 20, 1782. He was honorably discharged at West Point in August, 1783. Illinois pension roll, June 7, 1819, transfer from Ohio, Maria Louisa W23936. Maria Louisa was granted a pension on July 20, 1840, entitling her to receive $80 per year, commencing March 4, 1831. The amount in arrears $720, plus the first semi-annual allowance of $40 was paid to her son Seneca, for her, by the pension agent at Vandalia in silver half dollars. He carried it home in his saddle bags. Maria Louisa McEvers, Pension Census, June 1, 1840, Scott County, age 78, residing with Seneca McEvers, head of household. Although the exact grave of James McEvers was not located, the family, the American Legion Auxiliary and a DAR chapter placed a memorial marker in the Glasgow Cemetery in 1935 noting that he was a veteran of the American Revolutionary War. Elisha married SARAH JANE KNAPP (see: "Knapp" page) born Jan. 10, 1798 in Plattsburg, Clinton Co., New York, on Jun. 28, 1818. Elisha died Feb. 3, 1851 in Montezuma, Pike Co., Illinois. Sarah died Feb. 3, 1879 in Montezuma, Pike Co., Illinois.

SAMUEL died Jan. 5, 1932 in Oroisi, California.
