Firstly we would like to thank Ken Tatto of Launceston for putting his hand up and organising the Launceston run although he could not attend himself due to unforeseen circumstances. Ken sent his son Corey along to greet everyone
as they arrived at the casino car park, he was in the Aqua colored LX SS 5.0 Hatch, Thanks Corey…
Leaving before all the Toranas at Penguin, Latrobe and the casino car park was Les who got some great footage of the cars cruising up the road, with a very nice note to go with them.
5 Toranas departed Penguin to kick off the run, a friend who was at a house about 1 km along the old coast road at penguin the direction we were heading, said he heard us start up and 9:00am, 1 in particular which sounded like a V8 touring car and if you were on the run you can’t half tell who that was!! Of course it was Stevo’s Black and Silver SLR 5000, what a beast.
Calling into Wattle hill servo we collected another 4 Toranas, Rod
French turned up in his Red, White and Black A9X Production car, which definitely brought a smile to a few other drivers’ faces, ours in particular. Then heading off from the servo and getting some good footage of the cars, we pulled into Deloraine and collected another 3 cars, a neat Yellow LJ which traveled down from Launy just so he could drive
back up to Launy with us. When we arrived at the casino car park there were plenty of Torana spectators admiring the 9 cars that were already there and they had grins from ear to ear when they seen the rest of us turn up.
21 toranas in total were parked together at the casino, and it
was a great site to see as this was the most Toranas so far on any of our runs. We now have approx 70 Toranas on our mailing list.
After admiring all the cars and a bit of chat we took off for the museum for a look where a few photos were taken, before the cars headed around to the river view hotel for an enjoyable lunch, and after a lot of Torana chat we headed home. We would like to thank all those Torana owners that brought their cars out on the day, and to those doing up Toranas keep at it, because it will happen and when it does we can’t wait to see them on our runs. Also thanks to those who put in their $5 as this will go towards our next newsletter, stamps and advertising.
