Expand cooperative relationships with both federal, state, and local health agencies and
the public and private sectors to foster public health nutrition research;
Support the Nutrition Institute as the arm of the department which facilitates the
integration of concepts and resources from diverse disciplines across the university for
application to problems in human nutrition, including those faced by individuals,
families, and communities, and those with special health care needs;
Continue to provide and evaluate continuing education interventions for public health
nutritionists and establish the public health nutrition program as the Southeastern United
States' Continuing Education Center for Public Health Nutrition. Frequently, field advisors and students will
seek each other regarding employment opportunities or students will promote the field agency's
